I used to like this place (and its menu) very much. Not anymore! I'm not sure what happened during the pandemic and after, but it is not the nice, cozy spot with the food I loved. I hope the sushi and maki still taste the way they did two years ago, but I aimed at Tom Yum soup and the shrimp Pad Thai. Both happen to be extremely disappointing. The soup I ate at the restaurant while waiting for the Pad Tai. It was spicy and watery, with 2 (or three) little shrimps, few pieces of cut mushrooms, and tons of diced (raw) tomatoes. I cannot complain about the four tiny (but tasty) egg rolls. The second course, I tried at home. I mean, my husband did. I couldn't believe that what I received was the old, tasty Pad Thai... There were no noodles (only a cooked white rice on a side, no eggs, no well known veggies usually added to the dish... I couldn't believe my eyes! Really. Awful disappointment and waste of time and money. Never again will I visit the place! I didn't even care to complain or return the dish. I just wanted to get over my disappointment and rage far away from...
Read morePERFECTION!!!! Everything I ordered was fabulous. The miso was perfect with just the right amount of tofu & nori. The seaweed salad was almost crisp...super fresh and not slimey in the least the way it can sometimes get screwed up. Not this time!!!The salmon teriyaki(you just have to ask as it's not on the menu) kudos to the chef. The " cabbage" bed was a bit small but the carrots & OMG broccoli were magical. Steamed just 2 seconds past raw!!!! And to splurge & treat myself the Thai iced coffee was just right as were the deep fried bananas(got a perfect potassium fix)! The delivery young man was polite, followed directions to call and even though it was a busy time & night HANDED me, the gimp, the food and made sure I was steady & ok!!!!AWESOME MANNERS & KINDNESS. The dinner was worth every penny. I could have done without the rice, but now have enough for a midnight "snack". And even though their sushi is also great....this
was a PERFECT DINNER. THANK YOU, RUK!!!!! OK THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE BUT 3 PERFECT DINNERS OVER SEVERAL WEEKS. MAGIC & SUPER...
Read moreI love this place, but my last experience was horrible. I use to live in the neighborhood, so I ordered food from then at least once a week. Since I moved, I always make a point to stop by when I'm around Portage Park. Last time I stopped by, the restaurant was empty, the server made me feel like I'm not very welcome and I make her life miserable because I decided to eat there. I ordered my usual and waited forever. Not quite sure why since, once again there was noone there, no take-outs , phone calls, yet a lot of loud conversations and giggling in the back. When the food finally arrived, it was not good. The spicy ebi tempura was nothing like it should be. I waited for the server good 15 minutes, before she appeared from the kitchen to ask if the chef was new, because it is not what I ordered. She took the plate with sushi and left. 5 minutes later she brought me a check with no explanation. Very bazaar. So I paid and left. Most likely not coming back. Such a shame, I am very...
