This place is great, we just had 3 generations of fun building massive forts!
We (2 grandparents, 2 parents) took a 5 year old to Filament's Fort Night as a birthday treat. The event lasted nearly an hour where we followed several other families back stage and were met with a mountain of cardboard boxes. The event starts with a frenzy as each group secures a strategic location and builds a fortress with a variety of boxes, sheets and clothes pins. The kids don't tussle over the boxes because there is more than enough to go around, and the staff stresses kindness and sharing before the event begins. Once each fort is built, the staff supplies crayons for decorating and then flashlights. It was great to see all the kids give each other tours and show off their designs. The event ends in a dance party and the forts are dismantled back in to their original piles.

Read moreFilament is a true asset to the neighborhood. They put on creative kid-friendly plays, have an after school cardboard fort building program, and offer a cool summer theater camp for kids (my son loved it and cannot wait to go back). Maybe it's a coincidence but every performance I've been to made some connection to the community and deepens my appreciation for the 6 Corners area. For example, in 2016 I attended a mystery play that required the audience to explore the neighborhood with the actors looking for clues. Most of the action occurred outside the theater itself. The audience broke into teams and shared clues via Instagram. It was so much fun! I totally recommend watching this place for...
