I ordered moulikhia entree and salad for my husband. The order wasn't ready when I got there because printer had been jammed and they hadn't seen it come through. Regardless, they quickly prepared it while I waited. I hadn't been to Salam in over 10 years. The place is updated and very clean looking. The staff is very friendly and polite and apologetic for the order mishap, which I appreciated. Now on to the food: The medium meditrenean salad was good but on small side for a "medium". The moulikihia had very good taqliya / seasoning but lacked the sweetness/ acidity you get from a little carmalized tomato paste that I'm accustomed to as an Egyptian and how some of us make it (and I make it). They did give lemon on side which I assume is for acidity, but we Egyptians don't really put lemon in our moulikhia. I think that's more of a Palestinian version. Regardless, it was a good moulikhia for not home made. What comes with it: The rice was cooked well and tasty , although wish it had vermecelli like Egyptian version. And the chicken was decent and seasoned well for what seems to be boiled chicken. My husband who is very picky about moulikhia gave it a "good" rating. Overall, a good meal for those craving this Egyptian comfort dish and don't have time to make it at home. I would recommend it. Will try other dishes on menu on the future. I think this is a place...
Read moreWas pretty hesitant with Salam given some of the negative reviews but they seemed to be the most reasonably priced late-night takeout option for a beef Shawarma wrap so decided to go ahead and take a chance.
It was fairly worth it. The shawarma wrap is one of the better tasting ones I’ve had and although it wasn’t the largest I felt like it was well balanced and filling enough with the sides. Although some photos seemed to show different style fries these were exactly the steak type I was hoping they’d be.
The sandwich came with pickles, lettuce and tahini sauce on the side and I also ordered a hot sauce. The white sauce was really good and the hot sauce added a good amount of spice to the meat although it was already seasoned well. I think maybe the lettuce may have been left on the side to keep from getting soggy in the sandwich which I appreciated but that led me to notice that there didn’t seem to be any tomatoes as the description on the menu had said. That was a bit of a let down but the onions and beef were still really good. I actually ended up mixing some of the sauces together to make a little dressing for the lettuce and spooning that onto bites which tasted delicious.
Ordering was relatively easy online. The order was ready in the quoted 30 mins and the meal was less than $12. A pretty good...
Read moresalam restaurant is one of the best middle eastern/persian restaurants ive been to in a while. definitely beats fattoush & noono kabab. the cooks, waiters & owners were all the sweetest men ive ever came across. my waiter was also one of the best. didnt catch his name but he had long slick hair tied in a ponytail to the back, and he had a little bit of an accent. he always came back with a huge smile on his face & a giggle. the other workers & owners were also great, they had a sparkling personality & notice and speak to every single one of their customers. not only the amazing attitudes, but the food and the prices. fed a family of 5 and we were all full & still had tons of leftovers by the time we were done eating to take home. it was very cheap & the portions were very big. the comfort of the restaurant was through the roof. the background music was trendy but also vintage music & the excitement of everyone else in the restaurant. the seating was awesome with couches & cozy chairs and leds. the setting of the restaurant is truly beautiful. i really enjoyed salam restaurant & will definitely be recommending this place to others. cant...
