Please don’t waste your time or money.

So BEFORE we even ordered this place showed terrible customer service. We called to place the order and was told to wait while they served a customer…fine, done. They leave us on the line while we hear them just talking at the counter for about 5 mins. We hang up, try to call back and the line is busy, no call-back. Placed an online order after waiting 20 mins of waiting for them to hang the phone up.

The online order goes through, they then mess up 3 different items in our order. At home realizing the order was wrong, we then called and confronted them only to be told we would have to order and pay again if we wanted to fix it.

The menu had multiple items that did not match the description (sauces not listed that were put on top of the sushi rolls, which does not work for some people with allergies) causing this confusion.

On top of that, after trying every item we ordered, not one of them tasted fresh. I opened the package and it smelled fishy…not a good sign. This was honestly the worst sushi I’ve ever had.

Do yourself a favor and order from Sushi Joon down the road. Only ordered this garbage because Sushi Joon had just closed.

1 star only because I...

The food was fine, the issue was the way after the meal, we were treated. My older sister's card didn't process because she needed an updated card. We live in the neighborhood so she stepped out to go back home to get her other card. The employee there noticed and came up. We told her the issue and she went back to the front. As my little sister and I wait,10mins had passed. The restaurant wasn't busy. The employee (I don't know her position) came up to my little sister and I. Mind you, there was no indication that we would disrespect her restaurant. We were polite the entire time, and apologetic for what was out of our control. She comes to our table a second time, then asks if I could pay. If I could, I would've the moment the issue arrived. Then she asks my little sister--little--if she could pay. Then she comes back to me and ask if I have Apple pay. As more embarrassing as that could've gotten, thankfully my older sister returned with cash and her other card. This employee stereotyped us, and assumed the worst, when we gave her no indication to. It made the whole visit unpleasant, and it's a shame, because before she had returned to our table, we did had...

I feel bad about writing this review because I enjoy the food. But I spoke to one of the employees and she spoke to me so disrespectfully. I ordered directly from their website. If you go on the home page and click on “Online order” you have an option for delivery. What I was charged vs how much they charged me when I received the food was different and I felt bad for the delivery driver because I under tipped. I didn’t notice until I came back inside. When I called about the difference between my online receipt vs the one on my bag, the lady kept telling me I was wrong. While I was speaking she interrupted and said “who are you, I don’t know where you ordered but you did it wrong” I don’t know how I did it wrong if I got my food and I went on their website. But all I was doing was making sure the delivery driver got their whole tip.

Anyways, as someone who works in customer service, the way to handle it isn’t telling the customer they are wrong, not listening to their concerns and...

Came as a party of 6 on Christmas Day, restaurant was nice & empty which was to be expected but thats what we enjoyed & preferred with covid & all. We started off with appetizers such as gyoza, edamame, & fried shrimp & vegetable tempura. The gyoza were very delicious, not too soft & not to crunchy. Edamame & tempura was nice & fresh as well. After that we got drinks & a little bit of sushi. Mango smoothie was amazing! The consistency was perfect! Tasted just like if you were eating it! The Boba tea was also very good & jasmine tea was wonderfully frequent. Sushi was fresh & delicious. After came the main course! Ramen! I got the Bold Ramen, was nice & spicy and everyone loved the pork chashu & the noodles. Tonkotsu was ordered, they enjoyed it. Curry Ramen was also good, & the other 3 all got Shoyu Ramen. All in all everything was amazing & since we were a decent sized group not one item went wrong, staff was very attentive, and even were nice to take our picture 🙂 will definitely be coming again!

Their Ramen is a pretty good serving so we just had 1 sushi and we were stuffed! We tried almost all Ramen places downtown, some in NY and even in Tokyo. So we can tell right away from the 1st slurp that their Ramen here is not authentic. The broth is bland and lacks flavor. But the meat is flavorful and tender. Noodles was just okay. It’s obvious though, that they don’t make it from scratch. What we liked is their tempura. At least they didn’t use panko which we hate. Also ordered a fruit smoothie and it was too sweet. Overall experience was just okay. The 4.5 star reviews here in Google is what made us try this place. But I would probably believe Yelp reviews better because they got 4 stars which is probably more credible.

Dependable “Japanese-American“ cuisine. While everything here is fresh, some dishes such as the Chicken Teri Rice Don come off as one note. I wish they were the “donburi” version which would be the protein over rice and beaten egg simmered together in dashi which is much more flavorful. Good variety of maki even for non-raw fish eaters. Teriyaki also lacks the execution and is merely grilled meat with teriyaki sauce poured over it after cooking. Ramen is fine and they feature many varieties, even the shoyu version with a soy sauce base instead of the popular pork bone broth. Given the lack of Japanese cuisine in Albany Park, you can’t go completely wrong here.
