I was happy to see Derby City Pizza Company was moving in where Pizza Hut was in the past. PH moved further away from home and I stopped buying it. PH seemed to be declining in quality anyways. Today was the Grand Opening for Derby City in Jeffersonville so I wanted to be first reviewing it. I looked up the menu online and went through the motions to purchase through the website. It gave me a price, but I called it in. If you hear a sweet voice on the phone, you've been blessed to speak with Haleigh. Every business should have Haleigh answer their phone. She has a pleasant voice and temperament to match. I ordered the pizza over the phone and was quoted a higher price, about $4 more. I got in my car and ran over to the store to speak with someone and start my review. I met Haleigh in person and Manager, Mike. I told Mike what I found concerning online prices and store prices. He was surprised to hear about this, but said he would look into it. He gave me the 15% military discount and introduced me to the building owner who was a personable Navy Master Chief. We had a good conversation, including the pricing issue. The Master Chief introduced me to the business owner, Larry Davis who immediately got on the phone with his people concerning the pricing issue. Larry told me his people were already working on it and will get it corrected. The store is like brand new with a fabulous, covered, outside patio. The inside is nice and includes a private room for parties and a separate bar. I hear some electronic games are going to be added soon. There are several TV's to watch sports. Derby City is definitely an upgrade to the last occupant of this space. The pizza is normally thin crust or add $3 or $4 for thick crust. I really like the taste of the sauce and wifey and I have moved to thin crust for several years now. The pizza was cold by the time I got home due to me talking so long at the restaurant. I still liked it. The grandkids ate some, but wifey doesn't care for cold pizza. That's on me. I would definitely order from Derby City again. Perhaps the wife will like it hot next time. They also have appetizers, toasted subs, pasta, lasagna, salads and wings. I trust this is a great addition to Jeffersonville and has an easy location to get in and out. The entire staff was friendly and willing to bring customer satisfaction as Larry gave me the difference of online price and store price. Again, that should be corrected...
Read moreThis place needs some serious help when it comes to processes. They need to change it to where customers order as soon as they walk in, give them a number and have them seated. Once seated, the drinks and food comes. Having a server take orders doesn't make sense and it doesn't flow right. The server can't see the order in which people arrive at all times so hopping from one table to the next in no particular order is going to create issues at some point and I think it already has just reading other reviews. The place wasn't what I'd consider busy. There were some people seated outside and our family was one of 4 families in the main dining room. It was chaos as far as getting waited on. I had to go ask for menus after being there for a good 10 minutes. The girl doing carry out orders finally came over and at least took our drink orders and we ordered pretzel bites just to give our kids something in the meantime. We got our pretzel bites and they were really disappointing. They were overbaked and all of them were crunchy. Took another 20 minutes before we were approached to ask if we needed anything and I said yeah we need to order. This was our first time here and we were concerned about the price but had no idea we'd be served crust so thin it was cracker crust. You have to pay for regular crust. The kids pizza was so overbaked that the bottom of over half the pizza was black. My child was really upset. The sauce has absolutely no flavor. It tastes like canned tomato sauce. They do put plenty of toppings but we paid $65 for 2 adults and 1 kid to eat. Absolutely outrageous. We won't ever return and I'd advise others to study that menu closely so you know you have to pay for every little thing. They nickel and dime the hell out...
Read moreDon't waste your money or time!! I asked for extra cheese, did not get it, after waiting 40min. My husband got a med all meat pizza and it was dry!! the crust was like cardboard!! The bottom of my pizza was stuck to the pizza tray!! The couple behind us was there before us and just ordered a salad and a pizza and we even got our food before they did, and then their pizza was wrong. The waitress said I can take it back and have them put some on there. The lady asked how long that will take, and the waitress said, well they will have to recook it!! Now them being there before my family, and had already ordered, and it took 40 min for us to get dry pizza no extra cheese we asked for, why would they want to wait over another hour for their pizza!! And they were not busy at all, when we got there, it was just the couple I am talking about and two other guys at another table, I still left a tip at the table. Then I get up there to the counter to pay, there were two cashiers at the counter and seen me standing there, they both took off at the same time, did not say anything like (excuse me I will be right with you or anything) they both just left!! All they did was take two people their bill, that came in after my family did. I would not leave a one star, but you have to in...
