Took my wife and son in for lunch, parking lot was dead, sat down at the table of our choice, which was beside the fireplace in the patio- which was nice to enjoy with this fall weather.
Now to the food, my wife ordered the Morning Glory burger- said it was good and not cold, the fries were a bit crispy but luke warm.
I ordered the Avacodo Blackbean burger it's what I always get. Unfortunately it was not warm, like I'd compare it to drive-thru quality service. I was starving and powered through it because I skipped breakfast and did not want to wait for a replacement. We chose a sit down restaurant to relieve the quality/service that comes along with the price, my veggie burgers at Culvers are always delivered hotter than what I received today.
My son is only 15 months old and always gets the Mac And Cheese, whatever he doesn't eat we gladly finish, because it's typically delicious- not today, it was served cold, like not was once warm, but chilled cold. We had it sent off and heated up, once it was warmed up it wasn't any good, not sure if the recipe has been changed or not, but the flavor was bland and taste only of noodle, also didn't even have the usual breadcrumbs on top of it. We did ask for the Mac and Cheese meal to be removed because all 3 of us refused to eat it.
The first time I ever had Drakes was at after work on a Saturday night, it was a one hour wait (turned into a hour and fourth minute wait), was unaware it was the night of a UK vs UL basketball game. We waited 45 minutes for food for a group of 6, everything was cooked perfectly, warm, and had us wanting to come back again.
I mentioned my first experience because there was less than 10 cars in the parking lot and recieved less than expectations when it came to the quality of the food. $54 lunch for 3 should be served at it's best in this scenario. Not sure if the staff and location is to blame, as our home store is in Elizabethtown KY.
I'd like to end on a positive note, the warm pretzel appetizer was delicious, my wife and son...
Read moreGood food but the service was terribly lacking 2 of the 4 times I’ve been to this location. The last two times I was there the server brought salads with the entrees and both times, the servers (different each time) could not understand why the salads were no longer wanted by the people who ordered them. This last time the entire experience was atrocious from empty drink glasses for the majority of our meal to having to flag down random servers for things to having the check literally slammed down on the table while waiting to order another beer. I used to live on Tates Creek Rd. In Lexington KY about a mile from the original Drakes and was excited about getting one in Southern Indiana. It would appear that the company is simply not able to manage the explosive growth of the franchise in a way to maintain the consistency and standards of the original store. By all accounts, if they were able to consistently maintain the same standards as the original store, which I can only assume was the goal, then the ratings for this location would be well above 4.5 and probably the best option around. It’s ironic that we are talking about consistency and standards for service (and food) in the restaurant industry, in the back yard of the original Texas Roadhouse: a company that understands and prioritizes consistency and standards which is evidenced by its tremendous success. Despite what your opinion is of Texas Roadhouse, they got consistency down to a science just like McDonald’s, another wildly successful restaurant company. I think I’m seeing a theme and pattern for successful restaurants, Drakes. It apparently has less to do with food quality alone, which you’ve nailed, and more to do with consistency: both food quality and service. Hope you can get this train back...
Read moreUpdate: Drakes made it right after contacting them. I have Updated my rating for now to 3 stars. I will update it again when we eat there again depending on how the food is.
All of the food was mushy and cold. We had my father and stepmother in town for the holidays, and it was embarrassingly bad. We had to request a refund from DoorDash, which was a hassle because they only offered us $20 on a $90 order for four people. We did not receive a refund for the remaining amount. Absolutely unacceptable. This was our third time trying to eat or order from this location. I believe they need to hire more expediters to get food prepped faster, so hot items like burgers, sweet potato fries, tater tots, and fish don’t have to sit on the hot table for so long. We have tried DoorDash, dine-in, and carryout, and we've had poor experiences with all three at this location. Management needs to address this issue urgently. At this point, I don’t know if the problem lies with the back-of-house or front-of-house staff. Having worked in the service industry myself over the years, I can confidently say that something needs to change. This is 100% not DoorDash’s fault. The Dasher was waiting at the restaurant for over an hour, and it only took them a little over 10 minutes to get to our location after they were finally able to pick up the food, as I was tracking it on the app. I suspect the staff at Drake’s failed to provide the Dasher with the order in a timely manner once the food was prepared. We gave the Dasher an additional cash tip when they arrived at the house because I felt terrible that they had to wait so long at the restaurant to pick up our delivery. I sincerely wish we had chosen a different place to get food from...
