The food just wasn't very good, especially for the price. The service was shockingly bad. It almost seemed due to it just being me and my 3 kids. We weren't offered menus although every other table that was there before and after us had menus and ordered through the waitress. We were told to scan a barcode and order through an app on the table. We were told to go to the front of the store to get our own drinks out of the cooler rather than the waitress bringing them to the table. My youngest child's food came first which the wait wasn't long. Mine came about 5 minutes later, and then my other two kids food came about 15 minutes after mine. The lady told me if I'd like any sauces with my pho, I can walk to the front and get my own sauces. Oh and if you'd like any water you can walk to the front and serve yourself too. We weren't checked on the entire time we were there by the waitress either. I ordered an iced tea, which outside of the food was the only thing brought to the table and was never offered a refill. Crazy to me this place has the audacity to prompt for a tip when paying by card when the wait staff refused to do anything. I still tipped, generously, but I will...
Read moreBLUF/SUMMARY: What once was average, has now tumbled into well below average food. A victim of new ownership and catering to the wrong demographic.
DETAILS: Finally sitting down to write this review, after our 2nd or 3rd visit, since this will now definitively be our last.
New ownership has now emphasized a Chinese influence, over what was once Thai, Hmong, and Vietnamese. It was average at best before, and now it is unfortunately not good.
Food is bland, overpriced, lacking in portions, and lacking in authenticity. Undoubtedly catering to the typical non-Asian clientele who don’t know what real authentic southeast Asian food should taste like.
Specifically, SomTam (papaya salad) was drenched in fish sauce and overly sweet… it was better a few months ago, but now really not good.
The Thai Boat Noodle soup was also bland - and annoyingly served with “slices” of meatball. I literally had 1/2 of a total meatball, and 3 small thinly sliced brisket pieces.
My wife’s Pad Kra Pow was similarly bland and mixed with a sugary sauce that was just that - sweet but flavorless.
With Thai and southeast Asian food being near and dear to me, this place is...
Read moreOrdered a variety of food. Relaxed service, more self serve and "street food" style service. The egg roll had too much black pepper (in my opinion). And it was more on the saltier side. Boat noodle taste more like pho-with added dry blood. It doesn't have as much aromatics as traditional boat noodle. The pork ribs with rice was decent. I think it could use more flavor/seasoning. I feel like they relied more on the pepper sauce to make up for it. The cook laab was under flavor as well. The meat looks like it was pan fried, still had a lot of water/moisture content in it, which masked the spices and flavors. The papaya salad was probably the closest to authentic papaya salad. (We ordered the VIP papaya salad that came other meat and veggies). I don't think the vip dish was worth the price. *The music was too loud. * Overall this place is 3 out of 5 in terms of authenticity. I would like to note that most restaurants in Tulsa that has 4 or 5 star ratings, I...
