Our server was ON point. The bartender made Perfect cocktails🍸👍 The food came out pretty quick after ordering and that VIEW... No complaints there at all... (Except for the Expresso/Cupachino machine being broken😭 & not being able to make a reservation but it is what it is and that's OK.) . Thank you!! . BUT, I'd have to say it was not really worth the walk up the hill especially for a $160 meal🥺 . Explain?👌 .👇 I mean it looked good and was not bad. Having been here so many times over the years, it's not as good as it once was and I'm pretty sure I would NOT go again as there are way too many other good options. Unless I booked a room again. . This place use to really do it up for the Halloween 🎃 season. It is a converted hospital after all so I was really let down by the lack of effort. Ya, they had a couple decorations up. So bummed especially after having been here with kids so many times. . We had a party of 5 and we all said the same thing re: the food....where did the flavor go? It was just OK. . The burger was lacking flavor which was weird since it was the M.O.B. It was covered in a ton of mayo on both buns and served with a soggy bun. And under the 10 big french fries was a pile of small reject fries that were just so small and should have just been thrown away. It's like they were saving them up and gave them all to me🤣😂 and covered the upwith the regular fries as a joke. Toss them little spuds and don't ever serve those to a customer and charge $20🤑 . The B.L.T. was the same. Where did the flavor go? Hows that even happen? So weird. (No small reject fries here😅) . The Cesar 🥗's (both of them) were soggy, the lettuce was warm and the croutons were not enjoyable to eat. Which I have never said before about a salad anywhere in the world. . The 🐔 Chicken tenders were good. . We went here after an awesome ghost tour and driving 2 hours to get here. . All and All, a real bummer and I really dislike bad reviews. Usually if it was "bad", I dont review. Keep it...

The good: I love the atmosphere in this old building. It has a wonderful view across the valley, but that is about all that is good for this place.

The bad: The first thing we noticed was that everything on the menu is pretty pricey. I would expect that for a nice restaurant. However, when we got our appetizers (bruschetta) there was a giant black hair on the food. The server, when informed by another staff that our appetizer had a hair in it, responded with, "Oh for fks sake." I don't think he realized we could see and hear everything.

When our chicken alfredo and pasta came out, it did not look appetizing. The chicken was odd-looking and squishy. It did not taste good at all. The pasta was also pretty gross for a $38 meal. It tasted like someone dumped a can of grocery store alfredo onto our pasta or something. And to top it off the Pepsi was flat and didn't even get a single refill.

For a place with $20 appetizers and $40-60+ entrees, it is not worth it. Staff aren't attentive. Food is gross and overpriced. Staff also don't seem to be very good with kitchen hygiene. I don't have anything good to say except that it has a nice view. I wish we had just gone to a different place in town. It was my boyfriend's birthday, too, and the portion of food that he did eat hurt him stomach later on that night. The more I think it the more upset I get that I drove my bf 3 hours to this place for a birthday meal that I couldnt even eat and that...

Love this restaurant and the hotel. Fabulous views across the valley. This lunch visit was less successful than others. The server was slow and also slightly snotty. That was weird because they are usually just fabulous. I had the artichoke, served with an aioli and garlic butter. Beautifully done and I’m picky about artichoke cooking having grown up in a choke growing part of CA. I had the calamari also. Usually great but I think was left too long (back to slow server) because it was tepid and limp. They took it off the bill though. My friend had the Reuben and loved it. We sat out on the patio, which in good weather is where you want to be. Gorgeous out there. If you make reservations (sometimes need them in high season) ask for the patio. Dinner is also excellent here.

Side plug for the hotel: It is a terrific weekend spot, high up on the mountain. You can amble Into town down the hill a bit, which is convenient because Jerome parking is limited. Drive around it over the mountain to Prescott courthouse square on the way back to Phoenix. The hotel has excellent service. It is 100 or so years old and is run by a nice family. The en suite rooms are typical for an old hotel but you can’t beat the east facing views, where you can see the red rocks of Sedona on the other side...

You need to have lunch at restaurant in Arizona THIS Spooky Season!!! When you have lunch at Asylum Restaurant inside the Jerome Grand Hotel in Northern Arizona, you’ll have the most amazing view of the red rocks in Sedona while also experiencing what’s considered as one of the most haunted places here in Arizona. Back in the early 1900’s when this building was ran as an asylum, many people passed away while a patient, especially in the operating room, which is where there have been many reporting of paranormal activity. People have heard hospital gurneys in the middle of the night, mysterious voices when the hallways are empty, and even heard the ghost of a cat. Even with all of this paranormal activity, The Asylum remains a great restaurant to have lunch! Would you eat lunch in this historic asylum?
