First off, the Clinkscale Hotel has some of the most comfortable beds I have slept in regardless of quality, prestige, brand or location in a very, very long time. Secondly, it’s a magnificent restaurant however you want to categorize it. See my previous reviews for more details. It’s conveniently in the center of town, and for being so, so old the accommodations were short of historically extraordinary! BTW, some rooms are said to be haunted, one is christened ‘Spooks, Ghosts and Goblins’, ours was the ‘Victorian Rose’. Having the opportunity to regularly stay over many accommodations across and occasionally outside the country, albeit not a professional hotel reviewer, and not a regular business traveler - but as mostly a pleasure and needs wanderer, I have established as what I think is a concise method for scoring the worthiness of each accommodation visited. My measures are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score:4.0]; 2) convenient and safe parking albeit public street parking [Score:4.0 ]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:4.5]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score:4.0]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score:5.0]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, safe, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score:4.5 ]; Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 4.3. Most positive point(s) at this hotel is/are: the folks are nice, great actually, they know how to take care of guests, very amiable and one-on-one personal service, and a very historical, good old days feel with modern day conveniences throughout the atmosphere and experience. Not to mention, being above one of if not the most fab resto in Jerome, you can’t go wrong. Most negative points found here are: sorry that we didn’t experience any ghosts! But my wife and I could not find anything negative. The caveat being, readers who are considering a visit should fully understand this is a late 1800 building and not a Marriott, Hilton or Ritz, so make sure you take that into consideration. My price to value to overall...

During my recent visit to Jerome, I had the pleasure of dining at The Clinkscale, a beacon of modernity and elegance set against the historical backdrop of the 1899 Clinkscale building. This establishment is a testament to The Haunted Hospitality Group's commitment to excellence, seamlessly blending the charm of Jerome with the sophisticated allure found in Phoenix's trendiest spots.
From the moment I entered, the ambiance enveloped me in warmth and elegance. Greeted by a friendly smile, the welcoming vibe of the restaurant made me want to unwind and indulge in the culinary journey that awaited. The interior boasts a chic blend of exposed brick, rich hardwood floors, and tasteful accents of brown leather and steel, striking a perfect balance between historical charm and contemporary style.
The bar, a striking centerpiece, complemented the beautifully arranged seating that promised a comfortable dining experience. My companion's choice of an Espresso Martini, crafted with organic vodka, house-made espresso syrup, and Kahlua coffee liqueur, was a delightful start, although slightly on the sweeter side for her taste.
Our shared lunch selection was a symphony of flavors and textures. The Love Beet & Arugula Salad was a harmonious blend of herbed goat cheese, pickled onion, and toasted pine nuts, all drizzled with a honey Dijon balsamic vinaigrette. The Steak & Blue Cheese Bruschetta, with its succulent caramelized onions and creamy brie, was a testament to culinary craftsmanship. And the Truffle Fries, with their Parmigiano Reggiano, garlic aioli, and house ketchup, were nothing short of addictive.
Service at The Clinkscale was impeccable – our server was both knowledgeable and attentive, enhancing our dining experience with their professionalism and warmth. The Clinkscale is more than just a restaurant; it's a pivotal addition to Jerome's culinary scene, elevating it to new heights.
Whether you're a local resident or a traveler passing through, The Clinkscale is a must-visit destination. Its blend of historical charm, contemporary elegance, and culinary excellence makes it a jewel in Jerome's crown. I left with a content heart and a promise to myself to return. Highly...
Read moreWe stayed at the Haunted Penthouse. We live about 50 minutes away and in the past have only driven trough Jerome. Seeing how we were celebrating, we decided to do it in Jerome. We enjoyed the stay and you can tell the owners really did try to make this a unique place to stay. We did NOT have any real issues but I want to make you aware of what we encountered, and no not ghost related. The water pressure is pretty low and it took about 2 minutes for the hot water to make it from the water heater, about 10 feet away, to the shower. Once it did the only issue was water pressure. The beds were comfortable, but the 12" mattress sits on-top of a 9" box spring, so if you were to roll out of bed, you'll feel it. The sheets have a heavy starch feel so expect this and NOT soft cotton sheets. There are now drawers to place clothes in, but each room have a small closet. Now, the bed rooms face East and unfortunately the blinds do NOT cover the entire door window, if you are an early riser, and a lite sleeper, the morning sun will wake you, note blinds in the other rooms cover the entire window frame, so this may be an intentional setup by the owner. We did not use the stove but what I noticed in the kitchen is, the light below the microwave does not work incase you wanted to use it as a night-light, and above the stove you have lighting, 4 lamps, but only 2 work - this too may be by design to cut cost for the owner. The kitchen does come with a Keurig machine, up to 12oz, so that was nice and they even supplied several pods and not your typical 2 you may see at other hotels, so this was nice. Now, the part you may not like to hear. There is NO designated parking, so if you are not able to carry luggage up the steep outside steps, about 30 or so, you can park in the small loading zone outside the Haunted Hamburger, and walk in about 80 steps and then up the inside stairwell. What we did was to pay the ALL Day parking fee of $4 you "may" be able to find in front of the Clinkscale Hotel, then waited till the drive-in visitors had left, around 5:00pm, then relocated our car up above and across the street for easier access to unload luggage. All-in-All, we really had a good time exploring Jerome and the...
