Best Sushi in Springfield!
š£As a regular to this restaurant and frequent sushi eater, Hunan far and away exceeds with quality sushi for a great price. Sushi can be pretty expensive if you desire something that really tastes good, looks good, and is made in a clean way. Hunan's sushi is of high quality on a regular basis and for a wonderfully affordable price point!š£
š±For dinner you get unlimited sushi for about $18 and may pick (there are checklist menus at each table) from the dinner rolls which are larger, tastier, and beautifully presented. At lunch you may get unlimited sushi and access to the buffet table for about $5-$6 less, but you may only choose the lunch rolls which still numerically have more options. The only catch to the unlimited sushi is that you must pay $1 for every piece you don't eat. I consider this to be a good policy because it discourages waste and overeating. Two or three rolls is a lot of food, so start small and order more if you are still hungry. I have not had the pleasure of trying most other dishes (other than what they serve at the buffet tables) because I love the sushi very much, but I would venture to guess the quality is just as good as the sushi.š±
š„Some of the waitstaff may have a little trouble with their english but they are very polite and try their best to accommodate. I have had misunderstandings but they have always been kind enough to make things right. In summary, I would highly recommended this restaurant to any sushi lovers out there or as great place for quality chinese food! Also please remember to tip your sushi chef if you order a lot of rolls and to uphold your end of the...

Sadly, the 5-Star (would have given it 6) review was for a Hunan that no longer exists. Since their move, there isn't much good to say. Prices up, quality down. The buffet is gone and the cornerstone "all you can eat Sushi" is now the price of a nice dinner out, rather than a good lunch.
This place has transformed from a fabulous bargain "hole in the wall" to just another entry in the crowded mid range Asian cuisine. There are no longer any completing reasons to visit. That is a Bummer!.
I'll leave the old 5 star review up to remind of what was one of the best Springfield had to offer.
Sure, you can go around the corner and eat at the big Chinese buffet, but why would you when the Hunan is so much better...
To be fair, I usually have the endless Sushi when I'm there, so I'm not reviewing only the buffet. The buffet itself is smaller than the mega buffets we are used to today, but the quality of the food is better. (prolly 15-16 selections plus soups fried/white rice, and dessert)
The star here is their endless Sushi, which comes in both Lunch and Dinner varieties, with the latter including more exotic options, but at a higher price. The quality of the sushi is more akin to a proper sushi bar, and less like "buffet sushi" and it should be, as it's all made at the in house sushi bar.
Lots of selections and it only adds a few bucks to the price of the buffet (you get access to the buffet when ordering the sushi) They have a la cart options for sushi and a full menu of Chinese food as well. Staff is always courteous and prompt.
Nothing to complain about here. I would consider it a must eat for sushi lovers in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnce the go-to be-all of sushi, the Hunan caters to those who have a distinct taste for the orient. They have sushi, and many other Chinese dishes available daily, and you can even watch them make your sushi to order! Since other sushi restaurants have came to Springfield, this once fantastic place has now become more mediocre. Dinner dishes are still wonderful, however they have reduced the quality of the sushi. Smaller meat portions and more rice per roll, makes costs spread out more and go farther. Also they've raised their prices. It's now 20.00 for dinner (drink not included) and yes, you can have all the sushi you want...however if you don't eat it all, you're charged am additional $1.00 per piece if sushi left on the plate! I can understand this if someone orders 28 pieces and eats only 2, but come on...i cant take My last 3 pieces...
