Spacious room; Manager said that we can sit anywhere(ended up on a 4-top, near the windows, even though it was just two of us). The menu is short and sweet with just the right amount of items.
My wife had the Grilled Skirt Steak A La Carte with sauteed onions, yellow rice and red beans for $19.95. Thought the steak was a bit small for $19.95. She also had a cup of Green tea with honey for $1.95.
I had the Chicken Soup for $2.95. It was a very large bowl. The soup had: chicken, celery, carrots, potatoes, a 1/4 Cobb of corn, and chopped noodles. The soup came with 2 very small limes to squeeze into the soup. I also had the Codfish & Potatoes for $11.95. The fish and potatoes were surrounded by a delicious sauce. Since I don't like rice, I chose the house salad with blue cheese dressing. I had to have the salad to go, since both of us were full of this outstanding meal we just consumed. For my drink, I had the Blackberry Shake $5.00, made with milk(had a choice to either have it made with water or milk). The shake was delicious and it helped my delicious food down my throat.
We ended up getting some food to go, along with our dinner in the to-go containers. We bought four Empanadas @$1.95 each. We got a beef, chicken, spinach & cheese, AND a guava & cheese. Plus, two chocolate cakes,...
Read moreThe BEST Cuban Restaurant I ever been. Stumbled into this placed on a week day while walking to find lunch. Returned the same week and I am sold for the quality of the food. Had the best seafood soup, and cod and potatoes (bacalao) I ever had. Will be making the regular journey from Union City to this place to have great food. The prices are low given the quality of the food. The restaurant decoration is very nice and everything looks very clean. On researching this place, as expected, it is owned and run by individuals that own other Cuban restaurants in this area with the "Rumba" name. This is expected because the food is not the typical Cuban food one finds in dozens of small, isolated, family run restaurants. This is restaurant is run by pros with many years of experience, who know what they doing and it does show in the food, which speaks by itself. Well above the small run of the mill food in small Cuban restaurants. Great food and...
Read moreThis cafe disappointed me. I went in for lunch and ordered two empanadas, a chicken and a spinach & cheese. They brought me the wrong empanada and I asked for the correct one which they gave me with no issue. I also ordered a pork tamale which was delicious. Lastly though, I ordered a caesar salad, and maybe I should have known better than to order this at a cuban restaurant, but the parmesan cheese on the salad was visibly moldy. It made me wonder how they missed it because I noticed it immediately. So I sent it back and said nevermind (I honestly had totally lost my appetite), they tried to bring me a new one which I refused because I genuinely didn’t want to pay for it. The waiter was very kind and apologetic and they actually ended up giving me the whole meal for free (I still tipped obv). Overall the atmosphere is great but this place is pretty understaffed. I have high hopes for them but in the meantime I won’t...
