I really wish I could give this business 5 stars but unfortunately I can't.
I'll start by saying that the customer service/staff are all amazing. They're attentive, very friendly and welcoming. I'm new to the JC area (moved from Brooklyn in April) so I was searching for a new nail salon when I came across Blooming. A few things that I consider when trying out a new salon are reviews from previous customers, cleanliness/hygiene awareness, quality and skill of the staff, and price. Blooming had great reviews with loyal customers, the store was clean and looked welcoming, and I could tell from the pictures on the reviews that they did quality work.
I requested a gel manicure and pedicure. They did a great job and were attentive and careful as they did my nails. I was a little taken aback by the final price ($103) but I figured that this was reflective of JC prices.
Fast forward to today (approximately 2 1/2 weeks since my visit to Blooming) and I went to another nail salon (I wanted to try another salon just for reference). After the nail tech removed the gel from my toes, I saw that both of my big toes were developing fungal infections.
I've been getting my feet done for years and have never had anything like this before. And unfortunately, Blooming was the last place I got my nails done.
Unfortunately, I won't be returning to Blooming. With that being said, outside of this issue (which can be fixed with a more careful approach to cleaning their tools and updating their hygiene policies) the experience I had was positive.
I hope that my review is taken in consideration and used to improve said cleaning policies because the staff there is...
Read moreI've lived walking distance from this salon for over 20 years now but didn't check it out until recently. I've been so dissatisfied with my previous nail salon (Cuteticles, in case you're wondering) and this weekend was my last straw with them. I called Blooming Nails & Spa for a last minute appointment and they were able to accommodate me for an acrylic removal, dip powder mani, and spa pedicure.
I spoke with Lisa (one of the owners) and she was so knowledgeable with everything regarding nail care. With the rise of trendy nail designs, the art of nail care has been lost along the way. Most nail techs only care about creating beautiful designs while paying no attention to your nail health.
I originally wanted a gel manicure but Lisa advised that my nails will be super weak due to the acrylic I had and I should opt for a dip mani instead. I've never had it before but was willing to try it. At this point I was over acrylic nails anyway.
Lee was my nail tech and she patiently removed my acrylics by dipping my nails in acetone and periodically scraping it off with a nail file. She mentioned that she did not want to use the machine on my nails because they were so weak and I appreciated that so much. For my pedicure, I had Victoria as my tech and she was so gentle and precise. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed doing my nails. I was always a nervous wreck at my previous salon.
My dip manicure came out SO GOOD. They look so natural compared to acrylics. And my toes look good too! I'm so happy that I found my...
Read moreI’ve been going to this salon for almost 3 years because I love the way Lee & Victoria do my nails. There’s been times when the owner Lisa has had an attitude when I ask about the price & from the reviews I see I’m not the only who has experienced that. I have no problem paying but there’s times when the price has randomly changed & as a customer I need to know what I’m paying for & me asking about the price shouldn’t be a reason for the owner to have an attitude. I go once a month with my mom & I pay for both our service which comes out to $225+ & tip. Today I call to schedule my appointment for next week, the owner Lisa tells me that I can’t schedule an appointment because Lee the nail artist who has been doing my nails for 3 years doesn’t feel comfortable doing my nails because I’ve asked for the price before & because I take too long to choose a color? Every time I go in, Lee & I talk, we have each other on social media, not once has she mentioned that me asking about the price has made her feel uncomfortable. I take no more than 5 minutes to choose my color, I didn’t know that was “too long”, I have to choose a color I like for my nails, that’s why I’m going to get my nails done. I know it was Lisa the owner who has the problem & not Lee. I have nothing bad to say about the nail artist, they do a great job but if you choose to go to this nail salon be prepared to be given an attitude for asking about the price, which the owner changes whenever she wants & charges prices like it was a luxurious nail salon when...
