Halal Platters & Zings — Restaurant in Jersey City

The other day I got Halal Platters & Zings for lunch. I ordered their Fat Cat Platter w/ chicken and gyro for the protein(s). It usually comes with mozzarella sticks, french fries, onion rings, (Protein), rice, & a salad. Topped with white and red sauce (optional). I opted out of the fries though. The sauces were very decent in flavor, but the best was the rice. The rice was very good! Not too sure if it was just because of how heavy it was, but my only complaint was that the more I was eating the platter, the less tantalizing it got. The chicken and gyro meats were very good though. The mozzarella sticks and the onion rings were very middling at best. I’d rate my total experience a 5/10. Only reason it’s scored so high is because of how fresh the sauces were and how nice the staff was. All in all, probably wouldn’t try the same platter again, but would try this place again. Very average taste. Its like a local average chicken spot but overpriced. I ordered a Zinger sandwich, chicken platter, 2 corn on the cobs, 1 cheese fries, and 2 sodas. Average food truck with better taste and value for a lot less. One of the corn on the cobs was the house special and all they did was pour some platter sauce with hot sauce on it which made it looking very poor quality in looks and taste. I expected better taste and service by the looks of this restaurant but it was very disappointing. I would give a lower rating but since it is a brand new place, I expect the owners to work on their taste and prices soon if they want to survive. Zinger Sandwich was fried to almost black and platter chicken was too hard to chew. I will say that the location of the place is in a good spot. Right off the busy 440 highway where you can grab a quick bite and get back to business. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries combo. It just did not WOW me for a first time customer. I literally tell people that it’s my first time here when I arrive.. I expected to receive a nice sandwich with the cheese nicely melted in the sandwich. It came to me an I can clearly see that the slice of cheese was just added to the sandwich. Overall the facility was clean and the staff were very customer friendly as well.
