Wonder Bagels — Restaurant in Jersey City

the FOOD is GREAT - SERVICE IS TERRIBLE- this place needs organization. the morning is no time to dilly dally when you have to go to work shortly after. you can call an order in advance, drive there , see that they aren't busy some days yet they still they don't have it together and your order isn't ready. the women there are great, attentive and fast. but the man at the register is easily distracted and doesn't complete your transaction when he attempts to talk to or assist someone else. I have to ask him several times to finish my transaction before he starts another. they should have one person on register WHO PAYS ATTENTION. I have a huge soft spot for the elderly and this gentlemen by all means is capable but he doesn't do a good job. This place is literally around the corner and i will NOW DRIVE to the BERGEN/FAIRMOUNT ave location going forward. i know several people who have stopped going to this location for the very same reasons. as a business, YOUR BUSIEST TIME should be treated with the utmost importance. i know my daily order will not make or break this place but other than the service of this man at the register i would really love this place . As much as i would like to support these smaller personal businesses I will have to enjoy mediocre coffee at dunkin donuts...

I enjoy the food here, everything is good. I usually go on during the week for Breakfast, and sometimes get food for lunch later 😋 The Bagels are good, but it doesn't stop there, salads, pasta dishes, muffins, platters are good too. One of my favorites is the chicken sandwich on focaccia bread with pesto, sometimes its pre made, I just take it to work and heat it up, but you can have them do it there too. I always enjoy a Ice coffee, sometimes they use ice coffee ice cubes so it's not watered down. I did come here this Sunday, first time on a Sunday. It was very busy, so my order didn't come as I ordered it but I didn't bother them about it it was still very good. I know the server put in the order correctly and the kitchen made the error. Sometimes that happens when its that busy. It wasn't a big mistake just that one sandwich was supposed to be whole wheat everything and I got plan whole wheat, and the other sandwich was supposed to have scrambled egg and I got fryed eggs instead. Definitely not the end of the world. I will keep coming here because I enjoy the the service and the food. Its not cheap but you get what you pay for...

Most of the staff will greet you with a smile on their face and are overall friendly. The one lady (with the hijab, as others have mentioned) that's usually by the register is just plain rude. My wife & I have been coming here for years and have always tried to be friendly with her - she never responds, never smiles, and never says thank you. She's silent and cold and it's a terrible look for a store that has such great food. Perhaps management thinks the good food will make up for the rude service, but at the end of the day, we've been shying away more and more, which is a shame. Please prioritize customer service and have a talk with your register people. You don't need to be best friends with customers but you shouldn't be rude and cold either, to the point where it looks like your staff is either disgusted to be there or disgusted at having to deal with people. When this particular register girl is talking to co-workers, she livens up, so it's not something she's incapable of. The BEC here is great, both on a roll and on a bagel. The bagels are good.
