Jerkin Chicken — Restaurant in Jersey City

I would like to start off by saying seeing the owner bad mouthing and calling customers scammers is HIGHLY unprofessional and is a huge reason I’m no longer eating here. Says a-lot about management already.

It was decent but the prices are insane for the portions you get. The food itself was good but not good enough for the prices and portions.

Probably can get more from Golden Krust for less with similar quality. Spanish restaurants serve very large portions for 8-10 bucks. There is a Caribbean restaurant downtown for similar prices but with larger servings if you want your money’s worth also very good. Nicoles is the name.

You walk out with a very small serving size for 20 dollars at this place. I ordered the ox tail dinner for 20 dollars for reference.

These are suggestions for those wanting to get what you pay for.

But if you do eat here, be ready to pay a hefty price for small sizes and okay food.

I’ll support black owned businesses further when the quality meets up with the prices and service until then not worth the price just because of their race.

Great please to go to.. I met my wife here and that was her first time there.. It’s crazy because that is my favorite place to go. I love their Oxtail, oh and they helped my family by employing one of my family members. They have been so helpful and supportive to the community. I wish my words can encourage people to try them out — businesses have ups and downs but for some of the reviews I read it’s unfair that you guys try something one time and grade the entire business but I bet some of you return for more 🤦🏾‍♂️ that’s so sad… there are people in this world that makes decisions solely on reviews. Horrible experience. I placed and paid for an online pickup order, and when I arrived the door was locked—even though the store doesn’t close until 8pm and my order was marked “ready for pickup” at 7:05pm. I tried showing my confirmation through the door, but the employee was extremely rude and simply told me they were closed and to “come back tomorrow.” When I asked for a refund, he just said “later,” without asking for my name, order number, or any details. I walked away with no food, no refund, and no accountability.

What makes this even more disappointing is that I was intentionally trying to support a local small business. I had planned to use this order for my weekly meal prep and to treat myself, but instead I was left frustrated and ignored. Completely unacceptable and a terrible customer...
