The outside is very nice. It screams Steak House, with a statue of a bull etc.. Inside is nice as well. But way to dark. The Food menu was a nice surprise, it actually lit up when you opened it. We all eat with our eyes, so you want to see your food. We had to use the candle on the table and our phones to see the drink menu and our food. Its steak, we want to cut in to it and see if its cooked correctly ! Any one who are real Steak eaters understand this.

Prices- Steak prices are decent. But the sides are grossly over priced. $7 for a hand full of fries, $9 for veggies. Everything was a la cart and $7 and up. Example 2 steaks $88, 2 sides of fries $14 and $18 for 2 sides of a veggie. So we shared sides. We wanted onions and mushrooms as a topping $9.That was mixed, if we wanted a side of each it would of been $9 each. Really !!!! These sides need to be made much lower, to justify the Steak prices. Steak is expensive and expected, but sides??? No soup or salad given, bread was free and good.

Drinks- Beer is priced good $5 to start. We had the Seasonal beer. Sam Adams and Brooklyn Seasonal, very good and cold enough. It could be served better, I don't like glasses with logos in high end places, looks cheap. They need bigger glasses and frosted. The glasses were warm for a tap beer. Wines etc Priced accordingly, Mixed drinks over priced.

Now our food was served. I said ok all is expensive, but our Steak must be amazing. Ugh !!! No. My husbands was all fat, hard to cut into etc. He ate a few pieces and gave up. Mine was dry and blah ! Veggies very oily, fries were good and The onions and mushrooms oily and sliced mushrooms from a can I bet. I was told they were full button mushrooms before we ordered. SO I said ok.

We were so let down. The manager came over. I guess he was checking tables. I explained how sad the meal was. He was very nice etc. Offered to get new steaks etc. He was very attentive and cared very much. Our waiter very nice down to earth and cared. This was nice to see.

He offered dessert, he insisted. By accident we were served some chocolate thing with vanilla ice cream, amazing !! But I was given the tiramisu. Ugh, it was the frozen kind I buy at Costco, not what I expected from this place. I knew it as soon as I tasted it.

Well we were supposed to get the cheese cake. We got the cheese cake, AWESOME!! I knew right away it was a Greek recipe. I am a retired waitress of 25+ years, cook and manager. I know food, I know service and I know fresh and home made from a can and freezer. I know Steak. I know service, they got awesome customer service and staff. Front of house.

But I was not impressed with Chef. He also came out to do his rounds which is the correct thing to do. He looked sloppy, dirty and very tired looking. His coat and apron was dirty, the back of his coat was black. Im sorry before going out to the public, #1 rule of a chef is clean. Clean coat etc. Brush his hair etc. Be presentable !! I was like,he cooked for us. I guess he knows how to cook but was absent the day they taught public image.

Bathrooms, Silver ware, napkins , glasses, seats and tables very clean. I did not see any dust on light fixtures or decor. Floors clean.

Is it a place we will try again? Not this year. Maybe next year. Give it time to fix stuff. But tonight we doggy bagged it, my Pit Bull Dog loved it. They did adjust our check accordingly and I was surprised at the adjustment. If there is one thing I can say, is they do care about the customers satisfaction. So I see them in the future hopefully fixing and adjusting some things to make it exactly what Hudson...

Before this, I lived in Chicago and on occasions that pulled me out of the house where I can't cook my own, we would find ourselves at Chicago Chop House. It's a very famous place and also around $100 per plate. I have friends that swear by Morton's but, after trying a few places, I was a Chicago Chop house man.

We moved to Jersey City last July (14) and there is always that fiasco of finding the next place for you. You have to find Sushi, and Bakeries then sandwich shops and such. Steak is always last because you never know if the food will be worth the price tag. Since this is right down the street we walked in and were immediately happy. It's a warm an inviting place, the staff are easily some of the nicest people you'll meet. The drink prices and food prices are all easy to stomach. And for half the cost of the last place, I found a place almost as good. I say almost, just because a $90 steak and a $40 steak are close, but the chop house does something.

We loved the place enough that this is where we spent New Years. I will go again and again as it was easily my favorite New Years dinner I've had. It was affordable for two, it was delicious and it was just as good the following day. Until I move from here, this will be my steak house of choice.

They do cook just slightly under tempature, but always go Medium Rare anyway, you can always go up but never back down.

Mushrooms are amazing, beer prices are between $3-$6, spinach and artichoke dip is also great. Have fun keeping your hands off the bread as that is delicious and has a nice thick butter with it.

In time we will try the other things, but thus far, Filet was good but the Rib eye was outrageous. Get it with mushrooms.

Parking is easy, neighborhood is nice (I live down the street). Again. I love it here and...

I wanted to find my “go to” steak place here in Jersey City, and I had so hoped this place would be all I had dreamed of. Unfortunately, our dinner the other night ( Dec 30) was a big disappointment. I ordered a wedge salad, whose pleasure resides in a generous shower of crisp bacon bits, blue cheese, and diced tomato. Much to my surprise, the salad arrived as two small quarters of iceberg lettuce, a slight sprinkling of bacon bits, and a small cup of dressing with no blue cheese in it. I ordered a sirloin, which came out correctly cooked, but to be honest it lacked the umami and earthiness of steaks I’ve had elsewhere. My husband ordered the duck breast, which is his favorite. Our dishes arrived after a 40 min wait for the mains( incomprehensibly slow, considering there were barely six tables of diners that night), and his duck was overcooked and tough. The accompanying polenta was so dry that it flaked- at first I wasn’t ever sure what it was. ( May I add that I used to cook in a restaurant, so I pretty much know what things are and how they should be plated). Halfway through the meal, the waiter asked how everything was. I mentioned the overcooked duck and the failed polenta. He apologized and offered tell the chef. In most restaurants, when there’s a problem the manager comes over and at least apologizes. Offers to change the dish. Offers a dessert or a glass of wine on the house. Did we need either of these things? No. But it’s good restaurant management and PR to at least have the house offer it. Didn’t happen, which I find surprising in what is supposed to be a high end steak house. The bread pudding we ordered for dessert was delicious, which is really all I can say towards positive dining experience here. We won’t be visiting here again,...
