Kung Food(West Road) — Restaurant in Jersey Village

Ordered food for delivery about 9pm the women that took my call said it was no problem even though they close at 9:30. About 5 minutes after I placed my order they called me asking if I would be leaving a tip since they were already counting bills”. I recognized this as a demand for tip since they were about to close and I completely understood. I told them I would tip 15 bucks (which I imagine is great on 30 worth of food). I thought to myself surely with a good tip they will put some care into our order. I was sadly mistaken we ordered General Tsos and Orange Chicken, both of which were dry, cold and the exact same thing! The rice was old and dry and the soup was closer to jello than soup. Kung Food if you don’t want to put in any effort close to closing time just don’t answer the phone. I’ve eaten here several times and I have found this experience enjoyable. My reviews have been in the past, to warn consumers or be wary of the “potential” incidents that “may” occur. I don’t want all my reviews to be negative. THIS is one that is not. The restaurant appears clean, you are promptly greeted upon entering and the food was freshly prepared and very good. I advise anyone to try the LA “Special” rice which has crawfish, shrimp and sausage. It is very good. The fish is also very good. I cannot give an overall review of the menu as I have not had everything on it. The meals I have tried have been to my liking and I plan to return as I have many times since my initial visit. We placed a pick-up order by phone for 5 people. We were first excited about the many menu choices and the reasonable "Lunch Special" prices, but our initial excitement wore off fast. Everyone complained that their food was either bland or not good at all. This was the first time ever that fried rice was thrown away in my home and not devoured.
