My first visit to an Indian restaurant in Houston Texas. Ordered Butter Naan, Panner butter masala, Mysore masala Dosa and a thali. Disappointed with the food served. Butter naan is not made from fresh atta. It seems like a re-heated frozen item. Panner butter masala is OK. Neither good nor bad. Mysore masala Dosa tastes good. But, Sambar and chutney were a big disappointment. Thali quantity is very less for the price charged. Curries tastes good, but, dal not to the mark. Masala butter milk was tasty. The only positive thing I would like to highlight is about the lady across the counter, who is customer friendly and welcoming the guests with a smile. Ambience is good. Conclusion: The menu is priced high in comparison to their peers available within 3 miles range. Quality and quantity of the food needs to be improved.

Wow, this place is amazing!! Hubby and I rode out here from downtown and it did not disappoint. We had vegetable samosas to start. Nice flaky crust with a delicious potato filling with the right amount of spice. Surati Masala Dosa was filled with potatoes, garlic, chili, fenugreek, cilantro and masala. The best dosa we've had in the city. Vegetable biryani was cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices. Vegetable (they were out of cauliflower) Munchurian was delicious and went well with the biryani. Last we had the Masala Puri which is green peas, spices, onion sauce, tomato, cilantro and crispy chips with a tamarind chutney on top. The best part of this is it was all vegan!!! Second best part is it is very affordable. We wish it was closer but we will ride out here every chance we can. Highly recommended! 😋

Worst Indian restaurant I have ever tasted. First of all, the AC was not working when it's 90 degrees outside. The food was so bad, I ordered veg Hakka noodles, they served noodles in aluminum lid and taste like maggi with veggies. The Mysore masala Dosa so hard like they deep fried it and potatoes was smelling stale. For cholle bature, the cholle was not cooked completely. The paneer makhani was like those box gravy that we can see at grocery stores, which is not a restaurant food. I am never coming to this restaurant again. I don't know who are those people who are giving these 4 stars. I think either they are family members or bought customers. Don't even bother going to that place unless you want to waste your hard earn money.

wow such sadness that they call their food Indian. the food we had 2 out of 3 dishes (mysore masala dosa and pav bhaji) were so bland and lacking in taste to us... the quantity was like kids meals order for bhaji in pav bhaji (see attached pic)... not sure what kind of bhaji was it but we could basically saw pieces of onions and chew it.. from what I grew up eating at many restaurants and at home my understanding is that bhaji is suppose to be mashed in pav bhaji.... we asked for cheese on top and look at the pic attached to guess how much cheese was added (possibly a tea spoon quantity or less?). third dish (dabeli) was kinda ok but at first could not tell if it had gone bad but may be because of overwhelming chutney looking ingedient that I tasted and clearly saw on one of 2 dabelis served... with the dosa, I asked for an extra sambar which was served in a small for kids like utensil... I gave my wife the card to pay the bill and turns out we were charged 30 approximately by this teenager looking kid at the counter who gave her the receipt without breakdown.. I felt it is a lot for those three main dishes we ordered and I asked my wife to go back and ask them for a breakdown receipt... turns out we were charged more than what they should have... 4 bucks were charged for a small utensil of extra sambar I mentioned earlier that I had requested with the dosa... yes 4 bucks!! he refunded us 2 dollars from that communicating to her that he overcharged us.. I really hope to God i don't get sick for tomorrow as we are planning to head out on a cruise from galveston... i love to cook indian food so really hurts me a lot to see these ppl calling that food indian... please learn how to cook indian food before opening up a restaurant where so many ppl might end up either disliking indian food in general with a similar sad experience we had today or get sick or worse both... also one more thing that God knows what you put in mysore masala dosa that you served us but inner side of the dosa(crepe) is lined with red chutney from what I understand of this dish and not some black powder/chutney looking ingedient the dosa was layered with... also the masala of the dosa had large cubes of potatoes of harder texture/form cooked with spices and not boiled potatoes well cooked on the softer side so not sure what was going on there?? where did you learn to cook these dishes? .. I think I have had some frozen indian food that I found better tasting then what i had today... so...

[2023] Back to 5 start. Not a single complaint, flaw or irritation. Great flavors, satisfying portions, and heart-healthy (that rises to to an Ornish/Esselstyn/Forks-Over-Knives level of plant-based dining). Service tip: If you order more than one entree, your food is very likely to be delivered First-In, First-Out as there is a presumption of family style dining where many dishes are shared.

[Edit 2018] Bad Experience -- Communication failure, expectations failure, delivery failure, 24h stomach distress all members of my dining party. This single bad experience was so bad, it wiped out years of positives. I'm not sure we will ever return. I've dropped my rating from 5 to 3 stars.

[Original Review] A customer since 2013, this restaurant is a hidden gem. The cooking is home style; very fresh and healthy. Mirch Masala offers exciting flavors that don't leave you feeling greasy or weighted down... the food uplifts your spirits as it nourishes your body and soul. I've tried everything on the menu and I've never been disappointed. The prices are more than fair for the quality. Service is a tad slower than other places but everything is freshly crafted from scratch. Be sure to try their lunch buffet! I must also note: over the years they continue to improve and it is very obvious they are in this for the long run. They continue to reinvest, expand, and grow all while making sure their flavors and value improve too! Immerse yourself in this experience and you'll want to keep...

The food was delicious and they have various options..but the customer service definitely needs work. I came in yesterday at about 2:30, ordered my food and didn't come out for at least 30 min! Meanwhile another customer who had came in 10 min after me got his food before me. My guess is someone lost track of my order..which is terrible. Also make sure you tell the customer the price...through young man behind the counter just looked at me waiting for money instead of communicating. I had to ask what the price was myself to make sure I'm not being overcharged. Also on top of that no receipt!

After I saw the man got his food before me I went up to the counter where I talked to an older gentleman and he told me it would be right out. Sure enough it came out and he asked me if it was payed for already which let's me know there was no communication between the staff about my order. They probably forgot about it or were wondering who's it was.

The food is really good but the customer service does not match up and is a major flaw..both those perfected will keep a customer coming back! Can't...
