2 stars original review: Wanted to give this new place a try since it’s pretty close to home and has a convenient drive-thru (old Whataburger location) but unfortunately we’re super disappointed.
The mall Chinese food tastes 10x better than this, that’s saying a lot if you’ve tried the mall food you know what I mean. The noodles are dry and flavorless, the meat dishes themselves left a lot to be desired. The spicy shrimp was breaded nicely but had no sauce or anything to go with it. I took some of the General Tso’s chicken sauce and put it on the shrimp/noodles to make it edible.
The egg rolls are chewy and again, flavorless. My boyfriend left 1 behind which never happens lol They messed up one of our orders and didn’t include the steamed rice. This is understandable and not a deal breaker but the food is. We will wait another month or so to be fair, since they’re new, and give them another chance. I will update my review at that time.
**updated review 8/21/2025 (8 months later) Decided it was time to give them a second a chance. This place has done a complete 180! We have been back twice in 1 week (would have been 3 times, but they close earlier on Sunday lol)
Employees are super friendly and attentive. Food was fresh and flavorful and CLEAN, the place is clean. I can’t remember the name of the lady, but she was so pleasant and manager...
Read moreUPDATED 9/15/2025 - returned for lunch and the food looked and tasted much better. Spoke with the gm Harry and Eliza prepared the order. Both were nice and Eliza prepared the food with care. Ordered the mei fun, beef and broccoli, general tso chicken, and salt and pepper pork. The mei fun tasted fresher and the salt and pepper pork was crispy, not soggy. The beef was tender and the broccoli had a nice crunch. General tso chicken was crispy even with the sauce. I must apologize for the poor pictures, but forgot to snap them before tearing into the meal.
Would encourage anyone to check out the location at the corner of windfern/1960 to partake in the food.
Have visited this location on several occasions as it is close to my office, but on my most recent visit was a bit disappointing. The salt and pepper pork was dry and tasted as if it had been sitting out awhile. I got two plates and while the fresh mei fun was good, but the other plate used Mei fun that had been out awhile and it did not taste very good. The standard of care for the food quality at the Shepherd location is...
Read moreFood is surprisingly good! Glad to have a drive through chinese place near by. We’ve tried a few things and were satisfied. I do wish the had a walnut shrimp though!!! We have had two instances with the customer service that were a bit annoying. 1. We were in the drive through close to closing. A car was ahead of us. They took our order but when we got to the window to pay they told us they just closed. The car in front of us got their food and why take our order if you’ll just tell us your closed a few seconds later. 2. Their chicken wings have a wait time of 10 minutes as they fry them fresh. The 1st time we went a worker mentioned that if I ordered for curbside/online they would be cooked once they got the order in the system. So the next time we went we ordered curbside so that by the time I got there the food would be ready but none of the food was. I had to wait 15 minutes. Might as well have NOT ordered...
