Krystal — Restaurant in Johnson City

Having fond memories from childhood I have been wanting a Krystal burger forever. While in town my wife and I drove to Krystal. Worst mistake of my life. Placed order at drive thru. 10 to 12 minutes later we recieved our drinks. Another 5 to 7 minutes for our order. The place was deserted. No cars in lot and none in drive thru. No customers inside. What took so long? We recieved or order and drove down the block to watch our granddaughters ball game. Pulled a burger out and handed it to my wife. First bite, she turned green. It was all she could do to finish chewing and washing g it down with her Coke. My wife is finicky so I didn't think much about it. I pulled out a small burger from the carton and knew from the start it wasn't right. I felt as it was just ran under hot water. Slimy and wet. I though maybe they steamed the cheese to melt it. I took a large bite just knowing it would be as I remembered. Absolutely not! I couldn't tell what I was eating. The whole burger was sopping wet. The meat, what thin layer there was looked raw at best. The cheese was watery, onions was almost like jello consistency, so much mustard it was dripping and bun could squeeze water from. I guess the bun was soaking up the slop juices. One bite was all it took. Worst ever! Sickening! The order we placed was for a combo 5 cheese Krystal, chili cheese tots and medium drink each. Both order were like $27. Plus tax. Extremely expensive for what wad there. The chili cheese tots weren't much better. About 3 or 4 bites and that's all I could muster. The coke maybe 4 ounces will all the ice. I know things can go wrong at any time. But, after reading the reviews prior to leaving this, I can see where this is par for the course. How this is still in business, I'll never know. I will never get this experience out of my head, or, my money back. So much for childhood memories. This was Friday Aug. 23, 2025 at approximately 9:30 pm at the Johnson City location near the hospital on St. Of Franklin rd. I have eat MRE's that were like prime rib compared to this. This place is DISGUSTING!!! Okay I’ve been here a few times. Their food isn’t all that bad, but their workers do not care about wearing gloves when making your food. I always come here in the middle of the night because I work third shift near by and nothing else is open. Anyway, this has happened before and it was the manager (third shift) that made my food without gloves and when I asked for him to remake more with gloves on he wasn’t nice and instead gave me a refund and said “it will take a while to make a grill” whatever that means. He still did not give me a chance to wait he just handed me my money and basically said “leave”. And again just a few minutes ago I went through the drive thru and ordered my husband a junk yard fry and I watched them make some Krystal Burgers for the car behind me WITHOUT gloves. I’ve started warning everyone not to eat here. This place obviously needs better management because the people making your food there have marks and cuts all over their arms and hands which is gross to begin with, and tattoos everywhere not covered up. Not only that this is the second time it’s happened to me both times I’ve decided to go in the past like year I’ve had issues with the workers not making food with gloves on. Managers should be watching their cameras and terminating the ones who do this. This is very unhealthy and could cause any kind of outbreak if enough people actually eat there. I warn every customer that if you eat here... well, just don’t eat here. If I could give a zero star...

Used to come here when I visited family. Came in for thanksgiving, decided to go 11/20/18. Cashier out on a smoke break, 6 other employees working(well, they had uniforms, no work was being done). Finally got to order my food after about 3 minutes. Half of my order sat in the window while the heavy girl talked to other heavy girl about her first date. 5 more minutes, no food. 3 more minutes, another customer came in(so there were 2 of us now). She ordered a similar thing as me, so a guy working grabbed my food and almost handed it to her until I told him that it was mine and I was waiting on other stuff. He actually asked me if I had already ordered, wth. A few more minutes, I got 4 soggy burgers and 3 cold ones. As I sat to eat the lady who had come in started getting upset that she didn't get her food yet. Eventually after she asked for her money back they brought out the food. To put it nicely, this was sick. Disgusting. I paid $11 for something I wouldn't give to my neighbors dog. The dining area was dirty and full of baby flies, not joking. I'm actually sad for the owners of this place, but willing to share from one business owner to another; fire EVERYONE, clean it up, start drug testing. That's a good...
