Me and my wife went to Waltâs for some sherbet. When we got home to enjoy the sherbet we ordered it was watermelon sherbet on top and strawberry ice cream beneath. We called back to Waltâs explained to the man that answered the phone that we didnât order strawberry ice cream and it was supposed to be orange and watermelon sherbet he said bring it back and he would fix it grant it we didnât even eat it my wife noticed it when she dug into it to taste the orange. When we arrived the young lady at the window was very rude stating we received what we ordered and replied I said nothing about ice cream my wife is lactose intolerant and we said nothing about strawberries period. They replaced the order but just threw the bag out the window needless to say it was racism at itâs finest funny how polite they were over the phone because I know how proper I sound but when I walked up to the window and it was a 6â5 African American male funny how rude and unprofessional they became. Needless to say me and no other family member or friend will ever eat...
Read moreThis is response to the post from Debra Campbell. I work at Walt's. You are correct, in the covid environment the person working the cash register is required to dip their gloves (we require rubber gloves now) into the sink and then wipe them off before they can touch food. There is a reason for this. The sink contains a sanitizer approved by the Will County Health Department. The towel is also soaked in the same sanitizer. We do not want any germs or viruses to be transmitted from people handing money, so each employee is instructed to sanitize their hands and wipe their hands in sanitizer before touching any food. You described our process perfectly, I'm glad yo noticed. But, you were not aware that the sink and towel were actually sanitizer, which is the most sanitary way of handling food possible. I'm glad you enjoyed the ice cream, and be assured, with a multiple year record of scoring 100% on our Will COunty Health department score, we take cleanliness and sanitation...
Read moreOkay, I need to preface this. I'm a Missouri transplant. I grew up eating Andy's frozen custard. It's the best frozen dessert and I will drive to neighboring towns to eat it. I live right down the road from Walts. When we moved here 8 years ago I stopped in and I got some kind of soft serve sundae and did not like it. However, we stopped in by chance the other day just to give it one more chance before the seasons end, and I got actual ice cream. I tasted the vanilla and the chocolate. The ice cream is very good. Much better than soft serve. The chocolate is extremely good. I'll definitely come here for the ice cream. I plan to try all the flavors next year. My husband got a soft serve wizard. He loved it, I did not. Guess that's just not my cup of tea, but definitely don't sleep on the ice cream. They are shutting down for the season in a couple days, so get in and get some while you still...
