Disappointing and Disheartening Experience at Longshots Bar and Grill
I am deeply disappointed and outraged by my recent experience at Longshots Bar and Grill in Julia, Illinois. As a disabled individual who relies on a registered service animal, I expect to be treated with dignity and respect — unfortunately, that was not the case here.
The owner, I believe it’s name was Raymond, and it’s staff unlawfully denied me entry simply because I was accompanied by my service animal. This blatant violation of my civil rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is unacceptable and deeply disconcerting. Service animals are not pets—they are essential for my safety and independence.
Furthermore, I was appalled to discover that none of the bathrooms are handicap accessible. This blatant disregard for accessibility shows a complete lack of respect and consideration for disabled patrons, and it reflects a disturbing attitude towards those with disabilities. It’s clear that Longshots Bar and Grill has a blatant disrespect for individuals who are differently-abled, and this kind of discrimination has no place in our community.
I strongly urge the management to educate themselves on the legal rights of disabled patrons, to improve accessibility, and to treat everyone with the dignity they deserve. Discrimination and neglect like this not only harm individuals like myself but also perpetuate ignorance and prejudice.
I sincerely hope that the management takes this matter seriously and makes the necessary changes to ensure no other disabled person faces similar treatment. Everyone deserves equal access, respect, and dignity, regardless of their disabilities or the presence of a...
Read moreAfter about a half an hour of being ignored my sister flagged down someone who she thought was a bartender which turned out to be the owner. She then made us drinks and then proceeded to ignore us along with her bartender.
After saying hey we've been ignored they apologized but continued to ignore us. I said to the owner that she should be embarrassed at the way her staff treated people. And apparently she took this as a major insult. Because when we went to go play billiards she approached us again and went off on us for me saying she should be embarrassed by the way he staff handles things. And then the security guard who told my sister that the owner was drunk as well freaked out cause my sister started quoting him about the owners drunken state.
I have never in my entire life experienced something so insane. I just wanted to move on and play pool but apparently saying she should be embarrassed because her staff laughed at us for saying we were ignored was too much. She kept coming at me and I just wanted the...

Adding to the outrage, I discovered that none of their cooks or bartenders are licensed or certified in any way. This is not only irresponsible but potentially dangerous. I will be reporting Longshots to the state for improper licensing and operating without proper credentials. The safety and well-being of customers should be a priority, but clearly, it’s not for this establishment.
This experience has left a terrible impression, and I recommend anyone considering visiting Longshots think twice. Their blatant discrimination, lack of professionalism, and disregard for legal and safety standards are unacceptable. I will be sharing this experience widely and pursuing further action to ensure they are held accountable.
