I’m in Jonesboro for work about once a week and me and my co-worker are always on the lookout for new lunch spots that do two things. 1. Must taste good. 2. Be worth what you’re paying. This place hits both of those. I had the beef ramen, pork and beef dumplings, and pork buns. I normally wouldn’t order this much in a sitting, but when trying a new place I like to get a few things to get a good feel for their menu. I don’t want to say I’ve had better versions of the things I’ve ordered, but I’ve certainly paid more than what I paid here. The ramen was excellent. The broth and noodles were flavorful and the texture was perfect. The buns were good, but was expecting a little more flavor punch from the filling. The buns themselves were excellent. The dumplings were perfectly steamed and with the sauce and chili oil were and excellent bite of food. My co worker had the “chicken wrap”. He said it was excellent and would definitely order it again. I was able to sample some of the chicken in his wrap and I could tell it was packed with flavor. I’m not gonna lie and tell you I was a little jealous of it and would probably order it next time.
In the end. I would definitely come back for the overall value. I hope the locals find this place and see and taste what I did. FYI - You can get a bowl and ramen and a drink and be out for $10 or less and is far more satisfying than any fast food meal.
To the restaurant - Just my 2 cents, but I would add some descriptions of the food items in the menu. “Chicken wrap” to me leaves a lot to the imagination and I’m not always one to ask about an item and will simply not order it if I’m unfamiliar and just move on to something else. Even on items such as “beef ramen” it would be nice to know a little more about all of the ingredients involved to allow for a better mental picture. It would certainly help for the uninitiated that have never had dim-sum. Once again, just my 2 cents, and I’m certainly a fan of your establishment and hope you’re there every time...
Read moreI had high expectations for City Wok when I walked through the door. It is an unassuming locale, a row of table booths on the right, a hot tea and utensil tray on the left, and a small counter down at the end all wrapped up in alabaster walls. The menu is quite varied, yet consistent. The service was fantastic. But you're here about the food. Well, let me tell you. This place is an art gallery and its dishes are the sculptures. Absolutely mind blowing. I got the beef ramen and red bean steamed buns. The broth of the ramen was of such fine stock that it tasted like drinking a roast. The noodles were perfect, and the beef was tender and plentiful. It also came with half of a tea egg, which was scrumptious. The steamed buns, however, were beyond this world. Fluffy, smooth, soft buns with a gentle sweetness filled with a decadent red bean paste that just grabs you and takes you on an adventure of flavor, texture, and love of all things. Eating here wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. City Wok,...
Read moreCame right at opening on a Saturday (4:30) with my 8 yo. There was already several orders in front of us. I will say that the wait time was about 45 minutes. However, when the food came, it was delicious. First time ordering dim sum, so we stuck with pork & lamb dumplings, chicken ramen, and I ordered these mushroom saimois or something like that. Everything was so good! We smashed it! I used the longer wait as a teaching moment for my LO. Fresh, hot, well made food is worth it! Plus ALL that food and 2 milk teas (yummy, with REAL tapioca pearls) was 25 bucks before tip. Cant beat that! We sat next to a couple of sweet young ladies that said they come all the time, and its always good. The wraps were highly recommended and are on the list for next things to try! Will be...
