I have to say the wait for blackbird restaurant felt sooo long for them to open, but I have to say it was WORTH THE WAIT. Blackbird restaurant is beautiful on the outside as well as inside. We REALLY needed this restaurant in the Tequesta area. When you walk up to the door there are beautiful tables outside under cover. Going inside there are beautiful hostesses there very sharply dressed with lap tops and very knowledgeable to start you're Blackbird experience. My husband and I arrived at the restaurant at 4:30 for happy hour which I think runs until 6 oclock. We we're taken right in to an area called the keyhole hence the play of a birdcage. Very nice intimate area. Done just as beautiful as the rest of the restaurant. I have to say as we turned the corner before that the Black bird restaurant did not dissapointe in how very Asian and gorgeous it is. Ok let's get back to the service and food. Our waitress Gianna came right over to the table introduced herself was very helpful and knowledgeable about the drink and food menu. I ordered a martini called pho King good. It was keylime, pineapple, vodka, with an egg white froth on top. Not a typical drink I would order but Gianna convinced me I would love it. Let me tell you it was delightful and tasty. Not sweet which is what I was worried about. The martini sure stood up to it's name lol. Now the food. We tried practically all the food on the happy hour menu in 2s of course. First was a boa bun which was surely pillow soft with a delicious prepared beef with thinly sliced cabbage and red pepper on top. Not over whelming served in a bamboo steamer. They we're just delicious and did not dissapoint on flavor. Next we ordered 2 spring rolls delicious also served with a plum sauce. Calamari tender and delicious served in a pottery bowl over greens with a wedge of lime it was perfect. We had something else which I can't remember the name of it but came with a mild sweet and sour chili sauce. Also delicious. Gianna encouraged me to try the mustard dip . I have to say was very tasty with black sesame seeds in it . To my surprise it did not start a fire in my nose lol and was tasty and mild. I noticed while we we're enjoying our fair the employees we're very much on top of what was going on, changing our plates out for the calamari. That was appreciated. There was no confusion and everyone seemed to know what they we're doing which is appreciated and makes for a very enjoyable first time in the Blackbird restaurant which has only been open for a few weeks. So the rule of waiting until a new restaurant opening works out their kinks does not apply to this restaurant. At the end of our meal Gianna brought our bill in a very cute small wooden box which has the restaurants name on it. Nice touch on top of a plate with 2 fortune cookies. My fortune cookie said , pass your bill to the left I tried but it didn't work and we had a laugh with the other patrons next to us. So wrapping this up I cannot wait until I go back. Also 2 managers walked around to make sure everything and everyone was happy. After speaking with SAM BONASSO general manager he handed me his card and said please anytime you come in let me know. Very personable thing to do to get to know his diners. You can take a look at photo's of the food and drinks we enjoyed immensely. For prices very fair and not over the top. Very affordable great time. P.S. forgot to mention there is also seating and a bar upstairs. Will go up there on my next visit....

From the moment you step in, you're transported into a mystical, modern Asian dreamland. The decor is a visual feast—a glowing cherry blossom tree blooms in the center of the dining room like something plucked straight from a fantasy film. Outside, a majestic deity sculpture watches over the garden, and vibrant wall murals splash color and culture across every corner. It’s not just dinner—it’s an experience.
We arrived around 8 PM on a lively Saturday night and lucked out with two seats at the upstairs al fresco bar, which comes with breezy palm tree views and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re on vacation in your own backyard.
Our bartender—freshly promoted from bar back—was an absolute gem, friendly and eager, and gave us the lowdown on the menu like a seasoned pro. He even memorized our long list of small plates by heart, not jotting down a single note, and got everything spot on without a single follow-up question. Now that’s impressive!
Drinks arrived in a flash—sake galore, craft cocktails, and of course, the iconic Blackbird Espresso Martini, served with a wink and a fortune cookie on the side.
We dove into a spread of small plates, and wow—every bite was a delight. I’m no vegetarian, but the Truffle Mushroom Bao Ban was so decadent and umami-packed it could easily compete with the Mongolian Brisket Bao Ban, which was tender, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth marvelous.
The Tuna Poke Crispy Rice brought bold flavor, with wasabi tobiko packing a little extra punch—maybe even a tad too much. Next time, we’d love to let the fresh fish shine a little more with its own taste.
But let me rave about the Duck Lettuce Cups—these flavor bombs came with pickled veggies, crispy taro, and hoisin sauce, all wrapped in fresh, crunchy lettuce leaves. I could’ve eaten those all night and skipped everything else. (Okay, I kind of did.)
We also tried the Smoked Brisket Burnt Ends Fried Rice—a surprisingly standout dish. We’re not typically fried rice fanatics, but this one hit all the right notes: smoky, savory, balanced, and deeply satisfying.
The entire vibe of Blackbird is lively, stylish, and just downright fun. Whether you’re a die-hard foodie, a cocktail adventurer, or just out to enjoy a memorable night, this place delivers in spades.
We’ll absolutely be back—and next time, we’re staying for...
Read moreSo I’ve really been contemplating leaving a review OR NOT. I went to this venue once (prior to my most recent visit). NOW THIS IS A MINOR DETAIL, but on my first visit to Black Bird, I along with several of my other friends had on spaghetti strap attire ((exposing their shoulders, AND ENTIRE BACKS were exposed)) AND IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM.
FAST FORWARD to my most recent visit. I arrived and was put on a two hour waiting list. I’M PERFECTLY FINE WAITING. After our party was called, we waited in the lobby for another five minutes or so ((again, perfectly fine with waiting)).
We were brought to our table, seated, ordered our food… WHEN (apparently) A MEMBER OF MANAGEMENT APPROACHED to let me know my spaghetti straps were “OUT THE DRESS CODE”. I should have been addressed within the first two and half hours that I was on their property.
MIND YOU there was another woman (sitting at the bar) with a halter top on AND HER SHOULDERS WERE JUST AS EXPOSED AS MINE. MIND YOU there was another individual at the restaurant that I saw wearing SPANDEX and a t-shirt that was a clearly a couple decades old of a shirt.
BUT it was MYYY EXPOSED SHOULDERS that were A PROBLEM at the time. I truly felt targeted in their establishment, and while they were “gracious” enough to comp. our food based off the experience, IT DOES NOT MAKE ME (a minority within the demographic of their venue) feel any more welcomed within their establishment- I actually felt specifically targeted and discriminated against ((AND I AM NOT THE TYPE TO PULL THE “DISCRIMINATION CARD”)). Needless to say, even after having our food comp’ed, I no longer had the desire to eat the food from their establishment, so comping our food was the only right thing to do- since I was not going to eat from their hands.
Truly I was left with hunger pains, and CONFUSION. I was told it was MY EXPOSED SHOULDERS that was the problem. WHY were MY SHOULDERS a cause for concern AND NOT the shoulders of the lady sitting at the bar? When all my friend came and they had their BACKS and SHOULDERS exposed, WHY was it not a problem? WHY WERE MY SHOULDERS BEING TARGETED AND BEING USED AS THE SCAPEGOAT FOR SOMEONE ELSE DISCOMFORT???
SO, no, I am not one to pull the discrimination card… BUT WHEN ONE PLUS ONE NO LONGER EQUALS TWO, I am going to call a spade a spade and say it for how I FELT.
I was not the only one that night with exposed shoulders, nor was I the only one out of dress code ((unless spandex and t-shirts are well within the bounds of dress for their...
