My husband, two little ones and I were in Jupiter to get the kids a haircut. We looked up some restaurant options and figured we would go with the lighthouse diner, thinking it would provide enough options for my little picky eaters. We got to the diner, around 1pm on a Saturday and were literally the only ones in the restaurant, and there were multiple employees just standing around without having much to do. We were seated by our waitress, and I asked what the kids food options were and I actually think there was no kids meals at all on the menu. She recommended we get the kids the shareable egg and pancake meal that they can split (let me remind you it was 1pm).
We opted in getting the tenders adult meal and got two. I ordered a Caesar wrap, and my husband ordered a grilled cheese with bacon. I didn’t think the menu had a lot of “diner style food”. A different waiter brought our food out and handed me a chicken burger. I politely said I had not ordered that, but asked for a Caesar wrap. He took the burger back and our waitress, stomped over to us and aggressively and asked “what’s wrong with the food you got?” I said that’s just not what I ordered, snd she responded that it was and very annoyed walked away and mumbled “I’ll put your Caesar wrap in”. We were still the only ones at the restaurant, for some odd reason. My entire family consumed their food, and as they were done, mine finally came out. She practically tossed my food in front of me, and I hurried to finish it as my two kids were done and ready to leave. The wrap was extremely saturated in dressing and overwhelmingly salty and soggy. I got a very small portion of crispy to almost brown fries ( nothing like the fries my husband and kids got). Our entire meal totaled around $74 and it was the biggest waste of money. Poor service, poor food and just overall a huge mistake going there.
I never leave negative reviews but I just had to with this experience. Sadly this will be our last visit...
Read moreWe saw great reviews on this diner so we thought we would check it out while in town. I ordered the eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. My wife ordered eggs and sausage with pancakes on the side. She asked if the home fries came with anything else (onions, etc.) and our waitress said no. After a long wait, the food finally came. My $7 glass of OJ was almost empty by this time and I was never asked if I'd like to refill. The home fries came with onions, peppers, etc. contradicting what the waitress indicated. The eggs Benedict verdict: Thin and runny hollandaise, pasty English muffin and little to no taste to the meal. The "biscuits" were just English muffins and the gravy was bland, burnt and not good. The eggs were overcooked and dry, the pancake tasted like cardboard and the sausage was overcooked and dry. The only thing worth eating was the home fries (which I ate both mine and my wife's since she didn't want them with the taste of onions). The waitress seemed to know we weren't pleased because she was curt and cold dropping off the check that we paid. Not the worst dining experience we've ever had but disappointing to say the least given the great reviews. Everyone has their own opinion but I definitely wouldn't recommend the Lighthouse Diner to...
Read moreThis place has been hit or miss for years. I have been dining here since I was a kid. Last time I visited a few months back it was delicious, this time it was just okay. My colleague had a pot pie special, the pot pie itself was delicious, but the puff pastry on top was definitely not made fresh with the meal, maybe premade ahead. They should really serve their hot homemade biscuits on top as those are delicious. I had The Irish omelette. For $11 it should have been spectacular. The ends were dry and overdone, and there was little cheese only in the center leaving the rest of the omelette dry and bland. I had a side of fruit rather than potatoes and I was up charged without being told it wasn't an equal switch. I also ordered a side of tater tots which were horrible. They were so bland, no salt, or fluffiness to them, they almost tasted refried if that makes sense. With all the great breakfast/lunch places in this area this is not a first choice anymore. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant at noon for a corner diner on a...
