Dined here for the first time in mid November of 2024. Staff couldn't be nicer, without being overbearing. Small but pleasant dining room that didn't feel cramped. Surprisingly diverse menu for a place of this relatively smaller size. Obviously it has a local following, as almost everyone who came in were either known to the staff, or the customers knew the restaurant and the menu, if not the staff on duty, that night. I ordered a small salad with no croutons, and the dressing was excellent and the greens were fresh with no spoiled leaves in the dish. I had the house manicotti for my first plate, which was three, 9 inch long pieces rolled in flat and light pasta squares that were perfectly filled with tasty ricotta and mozzarella and herbs, all made from scratch in the kitchen, and covered in a very tasty and robust viscosity Marinara sauce. I then had the Chicken Cacciatore over angel hair pasta, which was a tasty but non-traditional, or perhaps regional, recipe. It featured small slices of chicken breast rather than whole pieces of body parts, was well cooked, and the tomato sauce was much more liquid than thick, didn't have capers or many mushrooms. I had asked for no green peppers, as both sweet red peppers and regular green peppers are usually in the sauce, which in my opinion, overpowers the other flavors in the recipe. The dinner bowl was large and could have readily been shared by two people. The pasta was perfectly cooked and soaked in the Cacciatore sauce, so it too was delicious. If you were ordering this dish, I'd recommend you ask to not add red or green peppers, and add capers, more mushrooms and more fresh or dry basil and fennel, either prices of fennel from the stalk, sauteed with the onions, or powdered dry fennel herb. I closed out my 3 course meal with a double espresso, that was perfect. I would definitely return to Vulcano in Jupiter near the bridge over the Intracoastal, within a shopping center location. Plenty of parking within 100 feet of the front door. Oh, and the wines were most reasonable. I had two glasses of a most enjoyable Amarone at only $12 per glass. I would consider all the prices at Vulcano to be moderate and a great value versus the quality of the food, the service of the staff, and the overall cleanliness and commitment by the owners to providing the best food they can prepare for their customers. There were no corners cut, and no pretenses. I think anyone who enjoys quality Italian recipes will...
Read moreOur dine in experience ended as a 1.5 hour frustrated take out experience.
We were headed to another restaurant when we saw this one and thought pizza sounded good. Initially we were impressed, we were seated in a private room at the back and our server, Kate was friendly, accommodating and great with our two children. This would be a 5 star review, had it not been for the long wait, messed up order and when we asked for a manager we were told the owner/chef/manager Roland refused to come to our table.
We were there just over an hour and a half before our pizza was brought to the table. At that point we said we'd have to take it to go as we had to pick a friend up from the airport. The waitress apologized and told us one of their pizza ovens wasn't working. We had requested half of the pizza to not have olives but the whole pizza had olives and she said she couldn't comp the pizza. We said we just wouldn't take the pizza as only one person in our group liked olives but were told it couldn't be removed from our check. This is when I asked to speak to a manager and was told he refused to leave the kitchen. He could've smoothed this situation, but refused to be bothered and confront the customer. The owner should not be in a hospitality industry and I felt bad for our server who wanted to do something for us but didn't have the authority to do so. The sweetheart offered to pay for our...
Read moreIf you like mushy tortellini, mushy salad, and mushy bread, this is the place for you. I ordered the tortellini and below it it said it came with a salad. I told the waiter I would like the salad and he said what kind of dressing would you like with it? As I was thinking, he suggested the gorgonzola dressing. I said okay. When I received my check at the end, I asked the waiter what is this $3 for? He said it was for the gorgonzola dressing. I said, you never said it was $3 extra. He said, I didn't need to tell you because it was already on the menu. I said, show me the menu. He brought me the menu and the $3 extra was listed on a completely different page. I said you would have to study the whole entire menu to have known that. The $3 was not listed below the entree. And you did not mention it to me. He said I will delete the $3 but in the future I will have to charge you the $3. I said okay. Afterwards, a woman came back to me with my change and said I will delete the$3 but in the future you'll have to pay the $3 and I said that's fine but you should tell your customers about the $3 and then she continued to give me the whole story that the waiter did. I thought it was a slick way of getting $3 out of their customers by putting it on a completely different page. I will not be...
