House Of Soul Seafood — Restaurant in Kalamazoo

Food was probably good when they prepared it 2 weeks ago. Showed up around 11 pm, they close at 2 am. Ordered 2 dinners to go based on photos and reviews on-line. I got the shrimp dinner and my husband ordered jerk chicken dinner. First, the food was lukewarm. The shrimp tasted like they poured it out the bag and microwaved it with butter ( picture showed fried) My fault for not asking. The jerk chicken had so much jerk rub on it, you couldn’t eat it ( too salty). The Mac n cheese was okay but it tasted old, like it was in the fridge for weeks. The only thing worth eating was the baked beans which tasted like Bush baked beans out the can which isn’t bad. Overall, very disappointed. Would give a negative star if it was possible. Wished I would’ve asked for my money back but I didn’t want the hassle....

I tried the crab legs, the crab boil, as well as the perch. Everything was delicious and unlike anything you get in Kalamazoo.

This is a very unique place with delicious food you don't usually get around here. Also treated myself to their chicken wings, and was greeted with a variety of unique sauces to satisfy any pallette.

Every sauce was amazing from mild to spicy. However after trying the wings naked, the sauce truly is a bonus.

Lastly but not the least, the staff is welcoming and friendly. They are clearly working hard to satisfy customers and put a lot of effort in their food. Great people running this business.

Ate at House of Soul Seafood. My seafood boil was good, but her sausages were burnt and hard. She shouldn't have put those in my boil or remade them. My husband got the perch meal and he said his fish was not fresh and cooked to hard, the Mac and cheese he didn't like or the cornbread which he thinks was Jiffy. Only thing he liked was the green beans. He says she heated his food up in the Styrofoam container because when he lifted up his container it had holes in the bottom, but only under the mac. That is why everything was dry and hard. Wanted to give them another chance, but my husband is saying no he doesn't want to go...
