This review is for the Richland, MI location as that location does not come up on a google search. Maybe there is a reason for that.
Arrived at the resturant just after 1030am. Most of the tables were full so my wife and I decided to sit at the counter. The hostess, seemingly confused that we requested this, showed us to our seats. Sat at the counter for 10 minutes directly by the coffee machine without ANY of the wait staff even acknowledging us. The one blonde girl did have a conversation with a gentleman sitting next to us as she haphazardly washed plastic and coffee cups. Another waitress thought it prudent to dig thru the trash for a receipt she apparently needed.
We also noticed most of the guests were waiting on their orders with at least a half dozen plates sitting in the window waiting to be served. And not once, but twice in 10 minutes I saw a waitress bring an order back into the kitchen and emerge with a different plate. We were finally acknowledged when I called for the blonde girl, who seemed to be more than annoyed that I called for her, to inform her that we were leaving.
We have tried this establishment several times. It was never good, but has gone rapidly down hill over the past 3 attempts at eating at the Richland location of East Egg. The location they have by campus is much better if you have to go to one of the East Egg restaurants. Personally, I am not sure why anyone would want to go if this is the staff they hire.
As a side note, we left East Egg Richland and went to Liz's Parkview Cafe. We were immediately greeted and sat. Our waitress saw to us promptly, we ordered and had our food on the table in the time it took to write this review. Guess where I will be dining for breakfast...
Read moreWalked in, no one was waiting, but all the tables were full. Wait about 5 minutes before being greeted, an was told it would be 10 minutes or so for a table, so I ask to place a to-go order. He asks me to wait a second, and proceeds to put the 5 people who walked in after me on the table list. Then he tells me he'll be right back, and proceeds to to start cleaning tables. I already knew what I wanted, but was never offered a menu, and i was apparently expected to wait for all the tables for the people behind me to be cleared, before I could place the Togo order that I obviously decided to place because I didn't want to wait for a table,so I left. Ridiculous customer service. The time I went in before, there was only 5 tables, but it took almost 20 minutes to get my food, because it took ten minutes before there was even a cook on the line....
Read moreThis place has the best breakfast in Kalamazoo and is a few steps from Western Michigan University. My fiance had the breakfast quesadilla with gravy which she loved and I had the banana pecan caramel pancakes which was delicious and the famous East egg special - two scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese over a biscuit and hash browns topped with gravy. I recommend this to anyone I killed both plates. Come hungry portion sizes are really huge. This was off the wall we are going thur a rough time. I'll be back to repay the favor to the restaurant and the Great community. Thank you for the down to home cooking and great atmosphere and friendly staff. The owners are a great...
