Extremely rude "owner" (as he claimed to be). Good food but don't go there after 9 pm, the wait outside is always long. Had a situation with the "owner" the other night. Long story short, he bumped into me (about knocked me over) and decided not to acknowledge me in any way what so ever. In response I excused him and commented how rude his lack of response was after bumping into someone and not even apologizing. He turned aggressive (he was definitely drinking) and began shouting how he owned the place and would have me thrown out. About two minutes later a bouncer approached me as the mysterious man swore. While drinking my water the bouncer told me I was out of control and needed to exit the premises. I asked for the actual owner, (because who would believe a random person claiming to be the owner in a bar on a Thursday night). Apparently not an option. So I asked for the general manager. Same response. Then the acting manager. Wouldn’t budge. The bouncer threatened to call the cops, I told him please do. The man about knocked me over and was raging with anger at a patron in the establishment. Would be fantastic to make a huge scene with an owner acting as a drunk idiot while aggressively yelling at a completely sober person drinking water in a bar. The bouncer turned around, went back to the entry way and spoke to the owner again. Neither one came back but the guy went to every bouncer talking to them and pointing at me. Not sure what he said but I’m sure it was interesting. Terrible lack of professionalism on this guy’s part if he is indeed the owner. Perhaps he’s the owner’s son or a partner, either way he was a...
Read moreThe sun had disappeared in the horizon and left a rosy glow in the evening sky while we had gone to West Main in Kalamazoo for burgers but found our destination closed for Monday. We headed over to the WMU campus area after a quick check-in with Yelp and tried our luck at The Old Goat Tavern. And luck was with us! We do not frequent campus regularly and although the Old Goat has been around for several years and it was not on our radar. OG is exactly a modern tavern: Lots of wood, steel, glass with a long bar and surround TV screens with tons of sports. Our server was very helpful explaining the menu and food options that are available. We liked the idea of being to order the number of smash burger patties for the burger option. There was a lot available from the menu and we ordered The Goat (SB) with a side of Truffle fries. My SO ordered her burger as a you-build with reg. fries. My, oh my, good food in a bounty! The BEST bacon jam we have ever tasted. The burgers were grilled juicy and well seasoned. The buns were the best size for the sandwich. I had bacon jam and burger juice dripping into my basket and I mopped up the delicious mess with my bun with delight. The Truffle fries were hot and crisp (not greasy) and tasty with garlic...
Read moreIf I could give you zero I would. I don’t know what their food tastes like because I never got past cheese curds (and those are hard to screw up). We were at a farewell ceremony for my daughter deploying. She chose your restaurant bc she went to WMU before being deployed. We sat, ignored for 20 minutes before anyone said anything to us. Then we got water and 2 beers. We then sat for 1.5 hours. While people filed in, are and left ahead of us even getting our appetizer. We talked to the waiter. No resolve. Just sorry. To fix it you go back in the kitchen and say hey, where’s my order. Something’s out of whack here and make sure your customer is taken care of. Nope. Someone else came over, don’t know who bc he didn’t identify himself. He apologized and said you’re trying your best. Ummm. Not buying it. I explained tickets should have times and the oldest be out first. Waiter came again later. Told him that management needs to work on the ticket system. He blamed the 3 new waiters that didn’t know how to hold tickets. Umm. Not their fault. Again, the tickets should be in order of time. Finally got our appetizer and the beer we wanted. People kept coming and getting fed. We threw a $20 spot on the table and went across the street to...
