City Barrel Pizza + Patio — Restaurant in Kansas City

We were very excited to try City Barrel Pizza + Beer! We had lunch there today prior to their Grand Opening this afternoon, and it was a blast. We started with the Corn Dogs which were wrapped in crunchy, cornbread-like yumminess, with a tasty mini hotdog inside served with a Beer Mustard Sauce…. and the Jalapeño Popper Pizza … a delightful combination and perfect balance of heat and sweet jalapeño, cream cheese and perfectly salty bacon. The NY style crust was perfect with this pizza. We were impressed with the great quality of the pizza and the beer, which paired well! A huge winner for me was the McLain’s Birthday Cake Ale (a blond) that was a collaboration of my favorite bakery down the street and City Barrel. (Sold in cans to take with you!) The owner greeted us warmly and the wait staff and GM Cory were friendly and upbeat. This is a place in which you will definitely want to return! Went in on a Friday night in August. Their grand opening was only a month before, so seems like they had worked out a few things. Beautiful weather so everyone wanted to sit outside. It is very busy. Need to keep an eye out and grab tables as people leave. There is no reserved seating for outside. We went with friends and their 2 kids. So 6 in total. It was a bit of a wait to get a table, but you can get drinks on the patio. There were so many kids on the patio playing and there quite a few games for them to enjoy. If you don’t like kids squealing and playing around you in this setting, this is not for you. The pizzas were good and the beer is good too, there was table service outside. We ordered the Big Mac styled pizza and it was actually really good. Tastes just like a big Mac on a pizza. The four white cheese pizza was great too. I plan to take my daughter for a late lunch today. Our first experience was AWESOME! I surprised my waitress with a $50 CASH TIP too! We went a hour before closing and sat in the heated patio area which was nice, spacious and warm. The atmosphere was chill because it was last minute for us as I discovered the new spot driving out Gregory to go to the post office. As diehard pizza lovers l, my daughter and I just had to try it. I love a good outdoor, heated, patio dining environment that is kid friendly AND has really good drink options. They also offer lunch specials, and a generous selection of to go alcoholic and CBD beverages! My daughter's new obsession is mozzarella sticks! A personal favorite of mine too!
