Governor Stumpy’s Grill House — Restaurant in Kansas City

Just AMAZING! We were celebrating 2 birthdays and chose Governor Stumpy’s. Staff is amazing, very personable and on their game! Chris came and spoke to us specifically about our steak and hamburger orders. Incredibly knowledgeable about how beef should be cooked to have the most flavor. She also has a wonderful sense of humor. If you are still reading this long review, you need to know what happened at the end of our meal to understand how truly amazing everyone is at Governor Stumpy’s. I had a medical emergency and was unable to walk. I was guided to a table and I lost consciousness. I’m not sure how long I sat there, but a doctor who was eating at the restaurant was immediately called over. I believe Chris stayed with me the whole time too. After 20-30 minutes and I felt I could move, Chris had her staff surround me and line up all the way to the back door (I’m pretty sure this is how it happened, but things were a bit fuzzy) to help me to our car to go to the ER. I did not want to have an ambulance come and they respected that. I am not a religious person, but I felt like Chris and her staff were angels surrounding me to help me through this scary situation. I am fine now and can’t wait to go back to Governor Stumpy’s. Thank you a million times over...

I'm very Big on customer service. Most times its the little things that make or break an experience for me. Ashley was my server, nice, but clearly not interested in whether I came back or not. I've been living in this neighborhood hood the entire time of their existence.

The food presentation was exceptional, however, sitting at the bar I had to listen to the owner celebrate how much money he made off our community this past St. Pat's. Wasn't professional.

I'm not big on desert, but the pistachio pudding cake looked tasty. If I decide another visit is in my future, I may try it. I was greeted by 3 people in all, almost as if they wanted to observe my demeanor up close.

My only issue, before tasting the food is the pasta discount. As a first time customer, and a huge fan of food, I asked about the pasta discount, that's what I ordered. Since I was 20 minutes to early, I did not receive it. Fine.

However, wasn't a lock in a new patron move ... At all. You never know, I took time write this, might have come back with all my friends on my next visit. We spend big, work hard and are always respectful in public.

But if 20 minutes, even after I asked was a big deal ... Most likely, I WON'T BE BACK !!! 3 stars, because of the food, otherwise would have been...

This establishment was recommended to me by a local. So I grabbed a few of my colleagues, and took them from lunch since we all new to the state. I was extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered the grill tilapia with seasoned rice and green beans. First the tilapia looked as if it was seasoned, but had zero flavor. The rice was probably cook the day before, and just rewarmed. Some parts of it were hard other parts were a bit mushy. The green beans where seasoned pretty well, but it almost tasted a bit frozen. The best part of my meal was my drink. No one at my table enjoyed their meal at all. When our server returns, she asked if we were done. We said yes she took away full plates of food and didn’t ask anyone about the full plates or the sad look around the table. Even the appetizer didn’t get touched. We are the spicy queso and chips. The queso has been sitting. The top layer was already thick. We had to break through it with a spoon to get to the cheese under it. Maybe this day the kitchen wasn’t having quite a good day, but unfortunately, with the level of disappointment, we will never...
