Front Range Cafe - Waldo / Brookside — Restaurant in Kansas City

The atmosphere is nice, and I haven’t been in the evening so the bar situation may be nicer. That all being said, it’s a bad coffee shop.

Food -

The food is really bad. Their quiches are really just egg bites that they heat up - that sounds nitpicky but I was given a quiche with a pool of water sitting on it. It was so nasty i had to toss it. I went another time for a parfait and it had mold in it. Their breakfast croissant was laden with grease has a McDonald’s egg on it which was just kind of tacky when they’re charging the cost of a full sandwich for it.

Beverages -

Again, can’t speak to the cocktails but the coffee is not good. The cold brew may literally be iced coffee. With both the food and coffee, you will get double the quality for the same price at McClain’s or the Roastery. Kind of sad because I don’t really want to have to support such large operations like McClain’s or the Roastery and would love it if Front Range was good.

Service -

The service here is pretty bad. I worked in restaurants for years and am pretty forgiving of most things for that reason. But it’s the fact that 4/5 baristas I’ve had here are generally kind of rude and act like you or other customers are disturbing them from their phone time. Atmosphere is cool, food is very regular, had the True Burrito, nothing special. What made this 3 stars though is the service. Walked in, cashier looking angry and didn’t greet us, we’re the only people ordering/in line so it isn’t like they’re slammed. I say hi to initiate any sort of conversation and she seemed annoyed to be working. I order, a small latte and it’s 7 dollars and a small cold brew is 5 dollars, pretty steep. I wait for my drinks and food. Once they’re ready they put them on the counter without saying anything or calling a ticket number or anything. I go over assuming it’s my stuff as there is no one else waiting for anything and I said thank you to the guy standing there looking at me and he says nothing in response. The two employees totally destroyed the vibe and seemed like they could care less of what was going on. All in all, average experience. First of all the people that work here are an absolute delight, super nice and welcoming. The coffee (oat milk dirty chai in my case) is delicious and they will make it extra hot without looking at you like you're a disappointment of a person (Shout out to 2nd best coffee) ☺️☺️☺️(I drink fast and if my coffee gets cold I will not finish it).. The food (Vegan burrito and a glazed jam donut) was really good, like a Vegan burrito.... Who'da thunk it? They have super cool stickers next to the cash register that lasted on my water bottle through many many dishwasher cycles ☺️☺️☺️ They also have a full bar and cool KC pride stuff (Go KC!)
