It did not escape me that they moved across the street from a very similar business from which I have purchased before. But I gave them a try because the other joint was closed. I spent what, to me, for a single take out meal, seems like a lot. $70.
I got ONE crab leg cluster and two tails. I thought there should have been two clusters. And if not, then I felt that I should at least have been able to swap the config as I liked. For example, since I like crab legs more that lobster, I would have been nice if I could have opted for two clusters and one tail instead.
I didn't like the batter used on the fried fish at all. It was too much like fried chicken and not enough like fried fish. I usually enjoy sausage, but I didn't care for the sausage. You know how you buy the sausage links to bbq, cheap plentiful (like 20 in a pack)... they were like that...more a hot dog consistency, than like say the sausage you used to get on a mixed plate at gates.
The buttery sauce stuff was, alright, but a little on the salty side; the egg and potatoe soak in this. No melted butter was provided for me to dip my crab legs in. The fried shrimp was good. But my french fries were cold by the time I got them home (try wrapping in foil for to go orders).
Other than that, it was packaged for travel better than the place across the street.
Long story short: It was ok, but not worth the price. I felt like the product was chintzy and cheap, but the price is high. Knowing what I know now, if I had it to do over again, I would have waited until today, and gone across the street. I think I would have got a better price and been...

And I turn around to see a lady behind the counter staring at me as if I'd done something wrong. After a moment of pure silence I ask if I should take a seat. "No, you order here" and point to the counter. Umm. Ok. Say what I want and she asks what flavors. Didn't know there were flavors so I ask. Big mistake. Now she seems really agitated. She says the flavors so fast all I hear is 'butter garlic' in the jumble. Ok sure I'll have that. "Drink?" "Yes please" and she stares at me again. Great, I'll just assume they have coke. "Pepsi then". Ok sure. I'm slid a bucket and presumably grab a table cause I'm not asking. No more than a minute later the food is out on the table. Not a word is said. All around me are signs NO DRINK REFILLS!!, DONT DO THIS!!, DO THAT!! and I feel incredibly unwelcome. I unpack my meal to find a claw cracker and......a plastic fork. Ever eat crab with a PLASTIC fork? Me either. Let's just say a lot of my meal went to waste after my fingers were too sore to dig into the crab. It was pretty good but I'll never go back due to the service. I'd hate to upset the lady working at the counter with my patronage, again. So much for brightening my day with...
Read moreSmall restaurant business. I'm a fan of seafood. I have been to New Orleans, great seafood there at a low price. So I'm kind of spoiled by the price and amount of food you get. Of course I know the price for shipping has to be in consideration being in Kansas City. I'd say a little pricey. But not by that much.
First pic out of the bag was impressive. They use a rubber band to keep the lid close. Opening the lid you find a plastic bag. This took up space. So looks can be distracting. There was a fair amount of food. Drowned in butter, medium size diced garlic, your choice of seasoning, there's a few to choose. I chose Cajun of course, being a New Orleans fan. I found it a little too much salt for my taste.
I did enjoy my meal. Seafood and BBQ/ finger foods, I love. If it isn't messy a little. You're not doing it correctly. So I enjoyed the fact, "It's messy." They do give you a bib and gloves for those who don't like licking the butter off your fingers.
My taste in spice level isn't that of, " My mouth is on fire." But I like to sweat a little. Mild for me, Thank you.
I did a walk in order to go. Service was speedy, but they weren't that busy either.
I like, off the Country Club Plaza places. So if you're like minded. I would say give them a try. Support local small businesses. And decide...
