Krab Kingz — Restaurant in Kansas City

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would in a heart beat! This is our second time there! We are from Iowa but have visited Kansas City twice in the past three years and when trying to find a good crab place the first time in KC this was the first place that popped up for google. I will say this place is in a very what some people would call “sketchy” part of KC. (There are lots of homeless people just doing the best they can! ) If you’re not okay with that I wouldn’t go it can make some people really uncomfortable! But I will say you will be missing out on meeting amazing people and amazing food! The two times we have been there we have not been bothered by anyone and everyone is super friendly!

The inside of the restaurant is smaller however the atmosphere from the GM and the other gal that works there makes up for it! This time while there their internet was not working so they decided they would help us the old fashioned way instead of turning us away! Not long after we ordered the GM was able to get internet from a neighboring building. The GM then turned on music and my kids were loving it. Dancing around singing and even the GM and the other gal working with him joined in! They continuously made sure we were satisfied with our meal! I will say that only think I regret about going in there this last time was we only took out enough cash for our meal (dumb on our part) and not quite enough to leave much of a tip for these amazing people! Next time we come they are definitely getting more of a tip! And just remember just because you’re ordering and paying for your meal right away does not mean you shouldn’t tip! They still bring your food to you and check on you often!

This location is directly across from another crab place (Crazy Crab) so verify reviews when choosing your spot. I was surprised to find this is a casual restaurant where you order and pay at the counter, but your food is brought to your table. The location is small, but they have the tables spread out so it felt safe here despite the pandemic. They have also sectioned off some chairs for people who are ordering food to-go.

We came midday on a Saturday hoping to get lunch pricing, but they do not offer lunch pricing on weekends. We were there for a birthday so we definitely still stayed. Two of us got boiled meals and two people got fried meals. Everyone enjoyed the food. One major flaw is that they only sell bottled drinks and the drinks were barely cold. It was kind of frustrating to pay a lot of money for a bottle of drink that was not even cold.

But the food itself was delicious. The corn in my boil was possibly the best corn I've ever had! I ordered the chili lime butter, one of many flavored options. The meals are also served with potatoes and sausage and one boiled egg. I guess the other flaw I would point out is the egg was overcooked. But this was not really a big deal, everything else was tasty. The potatoes were very tender.

The entrance is semi-accessible, and although the women's restroom was large enough for someone in a wheelchair there are no bars to support someone who needs that. Restrooms are...

Oh my goodness! I enjoyed every bit of Krab Kings' service and succulent Seafood! I ordered the the Boiled Krab and Shrimp dinner which includes the crabs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob, and a boiled egg.

I chose the garlic parmesan butter crab and shrimp dinner which was just the right taste. The food was so flavorful in my mouth and I couldn't eat just one! The entire seafood and veggies were juicy and tender!

To top it off, my dessert was a Red Velvet Belgian Style Waffle with a white creamy sauce and toasted pecans....OH MY! The waffle was fluffy, light and had a delicious taste!

Importantly, the Owner and staff worked in a orderly fashion and presented your order, what I call "fresh and hot."

Lastly, I have to shout out to a neighborhood friend who has been in the Culinary/Hospitality service for over 20 years who is a part of this unique staff.

Hats off to the Owner for his style of cuisine which draws a diverse group of clientele. I enjoy listening to some great tunes as I briefly waited for my order to be prepared. Also, you are able to place your order before arrival.
