The first few times you go, it'll feel like "where have places like this been all my life!?" The posh atmosphere is nice, the food is affordable and quickly made, and portions are generous, and it's easy to think that it's healthier food than most other local options. You wouldn't really be wrong in that regard.
But the shine wears off after a few visits. You soon find that the food is basically seasoned all the same and carries the same flavors, regardless of which dish you choose, and there's inconsistency in the preparation. Some days the roasted veggies are cooked to near mush. Other days they are still raw with just a sear on the edge, making them hard to digest. On that matter, with the amount of oil/fat and vegetables in many of the dishes, and a general overreliance on garlic, it's very easy to have digestive issues after eating there, depending on what you get. It's happened to me a few times.
The cocktails at the bar are premixed and come out of a tap (and they taste like it). The wine choices are bottom shelf stuff. Yeah, this is basically "fast casual", so maybe it's neat that they even have a bar, but with the chic atmosphere you could easily expect that the bar offerings would be a step up from what you'd find at a local dive bar, but you'd be wrong. They do a good job making it seem bougier than it is and like you're really getting a good deal, but look up the wines online and you'll see they are some of the cheapest bottles out there.
The entire menu consisting of food items named with weird puns and alliterations is nerve-grating, and it feels embarrassing to say a lot of the menu items out loud. Even though it's counter-service, there are servers that bring your food to the table and will check on you periodically, so it feels kind of confusing whether it's really counter service or table service or what. I actually find it annoying being checked on continually at a restaurant where you order at the counter. I can get up and go ask for anything I need. I felt rushed being asked if I need a takeout box when I'm only halfway through my meal.
The place feels like a yuppie's take on Mediterranean. It's okay for an occasional visit, but it lacks a feeling of authenticity, feels "marketed", and the asymmetrical seating areas, which seem like a neat idea at first, are actually really cramped and uncomfortable for the most part. Overall, it's more bells and whistles than good food, which means in this country it will likely survive a long time. The food is sometimes great but sometimes you regret going. It really feels the food is not the focus here, but rather the atmosphere and the schtick, which is why the shine...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you're searching for a culinary treasure in Liberty, look no further than Meddys! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
Let's talk about the food! The falafel is nothing short of spectacular – perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully fluffy on the inside, each bite bursts with flavor. Paired with their house-made hummus, which is creamy and rich, it creates a harmonious blend that keeps you coming back for more. The pita is soft and warm, a perfect companion for scooping up the hummus or enjoying on its own. And don't even get me started on the pita chips – they are a crunchy, addictive delight that I simply couldn’t stop munching on!
Now, let’s shine a spotlight on the service. I had the pleasure of being served by Greg, who truly went above and beyond. Not only did he whip up a custom mocktail for me that was refreshing and delicious, but he also offered samples of his favorite menu item the garlic potatoes!. His enthusiasm for the food is infectious, and our great conversation made my visit even more enjoyable.
Meddys is a perfect blend of outstanding food and 5-star service. Whether you're a local or just passing through, don’t miss the chance to indulge in their incredible offerings. I can’t wait to return for another round of falafel and to see what new delights Greg...
Read moreThe Meddys in Mission, KS has been one of our family’s favorite restaurants for a while, so we were so excited when they opened a location closer to home in the Northland! The whole family always leaves satisfied and we’ve enjoyed everything that we’ve tried. Some of our favorites are the Hummus Stacked bowl, the salmon plate, and the Fancy Falafels. The Mediterranean salad is my favorite - the dressing is perfect! Sometimes I’ll switch it up for the Fattoush salad, which is topped with the perfect amount of sumac and crunchy pita strips. The tomato basil soup is perfectly creamy and delicious with pita to dip in it. They always provide pita for the table, which we love to dip in the olive oil sprinkled with zaa’tar.
I love that the kids meals are only $1.99 when you dine in (and still a reasonable $5.99 for takeout or if you want to order it as an adult). They have options that all three of our kids like - macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, or the mini meddy bowl with lemony rice and your choice of meat. Our kids like to rotate through all three options!
There’s a large number of options for seating inside and on the patio, including large booths for bigger groups inside. The patio is my favorite - lots of greenery and when it’s not busy, we don’t have to feel bad if our preschooler wants to stand or walk around the table while we eat!
Love having another affordable option that the whole family loves in...
