Minsky's Pizza — Restaurant in Kansas City

I have visited this particular area of Kansas City many times over the years, but I did not come in until recently.

BIG, BIG MISTAKE. I never knew what I was missing.

The food is excellent. The pizza and calzone selections have something for everyone, and I like the different crust selections on the pizza. I am a deep dish fan first and foremost, but if I'm not in the mood for it, I can choose something else.

Had the Mediterranean calzone my first visit here. Loved the pesto, lamb sausage and spinach combination. I should have ordered sauce for dipping, but that's on me

Try the fried ravioli or the breaded cauliflower appetizers. There actually isn't a bad selection on the menu.

Even better than the food is the friendly staff.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tara on my first visit here. She was wonderful. Actually, she was beyond wonderful. She made me feel like a regular who had been going here for years. She had a big smile on her face, and constantly checked on me to ensure I was enjoying my visit and my food was perfect.

I sat at the bar the next time I was here, and met Julie. She was just as warm and friendly as Tara. I could see everyone else was committed to doing the best possible job and making their guests feel welcome.

I hope if Tara stays long enough at Minsky's, they will consider her for a management position. She would be a fine leader.

There are video games for the kiddies, and Buzztime poker and trivia to keep the adults occupied and having fun.

Holy cow. Worst restaurant experience possibly in my life. Big group of us there after a swim meet. Placed my order hours ahead of time. Greeted at the door by a host that had my order ticket. He said go ahead and sit with the group and they’ll bring it out. That was the first, and literally the only, thing an employee said to us in our almost 2 hour visit. 3 times I had to get up and find a worker and ask status of my order. First 2 I was lied to that it wasn’t ready yet. 3rd time discovered it had not been entered at all. He knew how bad they screwed up and brought them in to go boxes. Over 90 minutes after we got there. We are a couple pieces but it was late and had to go. Took 15 minutes for me to find someone that would take my card. She runs it and comes back and says “it already has 20% gratuity on it” No! You literally did NOTHING. No one greeted us. No one asked about our order. I got my own drinks. I practically had to put the pizzas in the oven and run my card myself! But management was absent and the only employees were kids and I was there with my own kids. Not making a scene there and not laying into the kid employees when their management clearly isn’t helping them.

Terrible. $50 for 2 mediocre pizzas that took 90 minutes to get with literally zero service. Minsky...

Tho sometimes a bit slow this place generally has a great staff and great atmosphere, the biggest issue is consistency with their pizzas. On 3/24/25 I ordered a take out, deep dish pizza which turned out to be more like a slightly thick crust at best! A couple of weeks ago or so I ordered a the same deep dish pizza and it came out perfect! The problem with this place is there is absolutely no consistency, you can order whatever type of crust you like and one time it maybe perfect & next time it may not be what you wanted. I have even ordered thin crust while dining in before & the same issue exists, one time it’s perfectly thin other times it’s closer to a hand toss. This definitely seems to be more than a simple one time mistake. Minskys is a really good pizza & I would definitely give it at least 4 stars when they get it right so if you order take out make sure you check it before you leave so you don’t waste your money like I did this last time and if you have it...
