I'm writing this review, saddened to see this place going downhill so quickly. I took my employees there for a business lunch yesterday. Up until this visit, it was my favorite place in the waldo neighborhood. Food was always fresh and delicious, the staff was warm and inviting, and the customer service from the wait staff was hospitable and friendly.
Not at all what we experienced on 1/18/2018. We got there at 1:15pm. The food was stale, and they didn't refill the buffet after about 1:40 even-though it's supposed to be open until 2:30.The young man running the place walked around like he was a body builder at the gym, carrying this tough guy persona and spoke so fast, no one in my party (of educated business professionals) could understand him. In all honesty, I usually go back and pick through some things on a second plate. I couldn't finish the first plate because I had completely lost my appetite, as had everyone dining with me.
They have removed a table in the front window (which when I come here and dine alone or with a friend is where I used to enjoy sitting) and have replaced it with a used retail display where they are now trying to sell women's shoes, purses, and costume jewelry that the young man claimed was "hand made in Pakistan." I understand the attempt at generating revenue, but I found this cross promotion highly distasteful. If you want to run an apparel business, open a shop. But don't do it out of a restaurant in a fashion that has obviously taken the staff's focus off of their number one priority. Being the Taj Mahal that everyone in the Waldo neighborhood used to know as their one of their favorite restaurants in...
Read moreI would not even give this restaurant 1 rating. Terrible Service, Uncomfortable Experience and constant staring. I went there with 4 of my friends for lunch We paid around 111$ just to be traumatized.
I had one of the worst dining experiences at this buffet. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel unwelcome. The waiter serving of our table had a bad attitude — no smile, no politeness, just short, cold responses like she didn't want us to be there. It only got worse from there.
While we were trying to enjoy our food, the staff kept walking by our table, circling and constant staring. It was obvious they were watching how much we were eating — making us feel judged and uncomfortable. We came to eat, not to be monitored what we were eating. Their constant stares and unfriendly looks completely ruined the experience and we left without eating properly.
A buffet should be a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Instead, we left feeling rushed, uncomfortable, and disappointed. I will definitely not be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
The girl who was doing the waiter service was extremely rude and full of attitude.
This is an Indian restaurant but we felt that they didn't want any Indian's to eat there. They were welcoming and treating others good. I felt that the restaurant should have kept a board or note mentioning that indians are not welcomed.
We are extremely traumatized with this restaurant. Would never suggest anyone...
Read moreI have been coming to the Taj Mahal with my grandmother for over 2 years now and there is not a single place in the metropolitan area that can compare. Not a single one. Out of all the indian resturants I've ever been to, this is the BEST ONE. I wanted to make sure when I wrote this review that I was certain about what I said and that I was able to do the resturant justice. So with that said, It's always vibrantly colored and when you taste the food it's obvious they use fresh ingredients. The flavors are rich and bold and authentic. They have these three sauces, a reddish sweetly sour sauce with a slight tang(my favorite), a green cilantro sauce, and an orange colored sauce with diced onions in it which pairs perfectly with the vegetable samosas. The veggie samosas are always savory and they're always fresh and steaming when you recieve them. The papadams are peppery and crisp and I love to dip them in the red sweet sauce. I get the garlic naan so I dont know about plain naan but what I get is always melt-in-your-mouth good and dont even get me started on dipping it in...
