Extremely Displeased with China Cottage - A Warning to Others

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with China Cottage that compelled me to share my dissatisfaction. We ordered through UberEats, and within minutes of completing payment, we received a notification stating that the restaurant adjusted the price from $33.00 to $50.00 without any explanation.

In response, we promptly canceled the order through the app, only to discover that we were still being charged because the restaurant claimed to have started preparing the food. Not only were we charged a whopping $17.00 more than expected, but we also didn't receive any food. To make matters worse, the restaurant failed to include any note explaining the sudden price increase.

Attempts to contact the restaurant have been made, with them providing excuses like "the manager isn't here during close" and conflicting information about when the manager is available. It's incredibly disappointing that they didn't take the initiative to reach out and discuss the unexpected charge, leaving us frustrated and without resolution - and still being charged for food.

This experience has left me questioning the integrity and customer service of China Cottage. I strongly advise potential customers to be wary of such practices and consider alternative dining options.

I’ve called everyday to speak to a manager, but Joan keeps telling me there isn’t a manager on duty. What’s going on with...

2/3/24- call the restaurant for prices. seems to be a lot of misinformation on line with prices way more expansive. good place to eat but they need to control their costs. Calamari is world class, some of the best I've ever eaten.

7/28/22 hope the food is still good. the online menu is so so poorly designed I can't even find or see food to order I cant consciously advocate anyone using the website for anything, so sad, what a loss. in search for a money grab they gave up basic functionality you can't even see the menu anymore goodbye china cottage and as of today I remove you from 5 stars to 1 star. for 10 years you were my number 1 Chinese food restaurant, but no more.

2010- Best In Class, Best in Katy. First time my family ate here after living in Katy for 9 years. Everyone was very happy, wife's cashew chicken was hot juicy and flavorful, daughters orange chicken (same thing she gets everywhere) was the best she'd had. My lo mien didn't have some of the smoky barbecue flavor but maybe because I ordered it special with the pork and jalapenos. The regular fried rice was just as good as any I've had at places like Benihanas. We'll definitely be eating here again. Portions are generous and we'll get 2 meals out of each order. Delivered in time, hot and fresh.

10/9/13- Still going strong 5 stars every time and were all ordering...

The employees/owner, were really awesome. The place was a bit warm, and the booth backs were not the most comfy. But the tables moved to allow larger people to dine in them so... Yay. The food was pretty tasty. Wife had beef and broccoli. I had pork andpineapple. Other than too much onion for me, everything was great. And next time i will just ask for no onion. The owner shared my love of mixing wonton and egg drop soups, so she happily obliged for me. ( seriously. Do this. It is life altering) the shrimp toast was really good. The rangoons... Again really good. But careful when tjey say the are hot... They Are hot. Thebeef and broccoli was pretty standard. Thebeef was meltin yourmouth tender. The pork and pineapple.... Wow. Imagine a crispy schnitzel... Then it is sauteed with pineapples and cherries.... Very tasty. I had it without green peppers and nect time will nix the onions... But if you like those... Even better for you i bet. My only complaint about it... I wish there was more. The portions were fine... I just wish there were more lol.

We will return. It is well worth it. Oh.. The prices were very decent. Though the lunch meal does not come with eggroll or rangoon.... Sadness...
