Wow! I’m so sad here because I really love BAGELS!!! And I love - (loved) this place. Our business have always bought bagels and lunch from here but it has gone downhill. The front attendant is lovely, but unfortunately the worse thing than a hot cup of coffee served COLD- is a toasted bagel served cold! Every time we get bagels it’s served chewy and cold I. The center. The cheese and butter has also gotten skimpy. Because I haven’t found another bagel place here in town, I come here but it’s always a fail with cold bagels! My suggestion, if you need bagels like I do, just buy it and take it home and toast it there. Not ideal if you wanted to eat out but that’s the only way you’re going to get a descent hot bagel! Worst part is, I ordered a triple toasted bagel, the attendant again, was lovely and told the kitchen people that but they said no. She gave me the bagel cold. I showed her. I paid for it still! She felt the bread and agreed it was cold and it went to trash. The owner who’s been there for about 5 years, came out, and didn’t do a thing. Never even offered to get me another bagel and toast it better. I’m so disappointed in that. But that’s ok. I paid for it and left and drove all the ya to westheimer by the mall where CiCi’s pizza is to this new croissant place, not sure if I got the name right but I think it’s called Butter Croissant? Sorry. It just opened. Everyone said it’s good croissants which is NOTHING like a bagel but I gave it a try. Surprisingly it was amazing. Still miss a bagel though! I bought some of the staff at the school some croissants which they loved but again, I miss my bagel but I refuse to eat a cold bagel! Update to respond to owner: Hi Mike. I have known you since you bought this cafe a few years back from the previous lady who owned and operated this cafe for years. I also went to you on this day to tell you about the bagel. I told you I paid for the bagel and it was cold. I showed you the bagel and you said it was ridiculous that your employee would have to throw away a bagel. I agreed with you. I also told you and another couple sitting there who knows me and you that the worst thing than a cold bagel with butter and cream cheese is ordering a hot cup of coffee and it is delivered cold. Your employee by your side offered to Microwave my bagel. Now being a bagel expertise such as yourself, we both know to “microwave” a bagel is horrible. Why didn’t you offer to fix the situation when we spoke in person and make me a new bagel? I was standing there with my cup of coffee. I appreciate your staff responding to the reviews, but please whoever is responding, if you had just asked Mike who my employees and I have known and go to this same cafe we have gone for over 15 years, and whom I’ve spoken with Mike many times, this responder would have found out what happened. Even your lovely front end lady felt bad and apologized to me but said she can’t do anything without Mike saying so. Thanks but my suggestion is raise the temp on the slicer for special requests or just run the bagel thru several times like I originally requested. It’s not only me, the couple at the cafe even said it’s not the same. You could have fixed this then and there and it would have been water under the bridge but when you knew I paid for it and then don’t offer to fix it when I spoke to you in person and then your kitchen staff says to microwave the bagel that was originally given to me, that’s just not...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying that I am by no means a bagel girl. OK, now that we got that out-of-the-way let’s get started. I was running errands and looking for a coffee shop when my GPS led me to this hidden little bagel shop. I looked at the menu and I was like “you know what? I could go for a bagel right now. I haven’t had one in years.” Boy oh boy did I get my mind blown! There were so many options of in-house baked bagels and so many options of cream cheese that I didn’t even know where to start. I ended up getting the spinach and feta bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, baked, and oooweeee!! Literally the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life! I seriously do think their secret ingredient is love. The woman that helped me through this transaction was so patient and encouraging, and she even made some suggestions for next time, because I will be back! Now it’s time to order my coffee. A young gentleman helped me and he suggested that I used half-and-half in my coffee to make it creamier and he was right! I had an iced brown sugar latte and every sip feels like a dream come true. I’ll definitely be back tomorrow to try the cranberry orange bagel or maybe I’ll get an egg sandwich? Who knows the possibilities or endless! All I can say is that everyone at this establishment was extremely helpful and sweet and I cannot recommend this...
Read moreAn extremely underrated spot that you need to go to as soon as possible! I honestly thought I had already tried all the best bagels out there, but The Bagel Cafe seriously impressed me.
I'll start by saying that hopping in here on an early Sunday morning is quite the experience. The inside is modest and cozy, and really embodied the kind of New York-deli vibe that you don't get in many places. The staff was jovial, and they were laughing and joking and having fun at 7AM on a Sunday. That was AWESOME. So needless to say, the service was amazing.
But of course, the bagels speak for themselves. Texture and taste-wise, these bagels may be the best I've ever had. Not to mention they're extremely photogenic. Flavors of the bagels themselves and the cream cheese were unmatched, I got a salt/plain cream cheese bagel and a jalapeño cheddar/chive cream cheese bagel. I will say, if you're a fan of the chewier type of bagel—this is your place!
This place was absolutely amazing, and I'm already counting the days until I can come here again on a...
