Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in Katy

I don't normally hand out 1 stars but sorry Shipley's on Fry and Clay, you're getting one. I had an early morning with my daughter so we went to Shipleys at around 5:45am. I didn't go earlier so they would have a chance to get going and make things fresh and warm, you know, what Shipley's is KNOWN for. Well, we got neither when we ordered donut holes, a glazed donut and kolache this morning. When I asked the lady why they weren't warm she said "they were made 45 min ago. They're fresh." They didn't feel fresh, taste fresh, have any of the warm glazed goodness that most Shipleys have. None of it. And the kolache was the same way. Stale. This isn't the first time they served cold items here. None of them care in there unfortunately. This Shipleys is only a minute from my home, but I would rather travel to the highway 6 Shipleys then be putting money into this location and them not care one bit. Unfortunately, we live in a world where customer service isn’t standard across-the-board. I had an event this morning and I stopped in to buy a dozen kolaches and a dozen donuts and I was so lucky to have Diego assist me. I have been a Shipley‘s fan for over 30 years. Maybe even longer if we count when my parents used to pay the bill. This was the absolute best customer service I have ever received from a Shipley’s in my entire life. From a regular customer that stops in morning which have not been there in few weeks. My wife and I got out in the bad weather today to get fresh and hot donuts and fresh coffee. The kolache was not as good as normal, the apple fritters were over cooked and very crunchy and the regular coffee had a burnt taste to you couldn't finish drinking it. Paying almost 28.00 for 7 donuts, 2 kolache and 2 LG coffee was way to much . Plus we didn't see the normal owners working there today so wondering if new owners took over and food was not up to customer...
