Torchy's Tacos — Restaurant in Katy

I was going to give it three stars but what the hell. Torchys is super over rated and I’ve never had it due to facts that I hear that it’s expensive. This is my first time ever having torchys. I’m probably not going to come back to torchys for a while at longest it’s a special occasion Or a cute date simply because I don’t believe that a taco should cost you $5! don’t get me wrong, it’s delicious! but $5?! I feel that you might be paying for the atmosphere because this restaurant is very nice but think about; if you buy yourself 3 tacos=$15 with no drink or sides . the restaurant by my place that’s super popular (Taco Flores) and about every other taqueria out there has tacos for 1.50 and the most i’ve spent on a taco there is their 2.00 taco which is like their premium meat tacos. You can feed a whole family under $20! that’s why I think it is insane for a $5 Taco! haha. But I would say give it a try! it’s good! but from a mexican person, I think it is just wrong! (joking kinda) haha. I jut think it’s crazy. Oh and their spicy sauce that my taco came with, I was very happy that the sauce was actually spicy! very delicious and really loved my taco!...

I tried Torchy's Tacos about a year and a half ago after moving to TX and was unimpressed but after seeing more and more locations (even on the East Coast) I wanted to give the restaurant another shot. We ordered the family pack Trailer Park, the Green Chili Pork, and the American tacos. We eat excellent tacos on a regular basis from a variety of restaurants/ food trucks so maybe we're spoiled but the Torchys food is a total disappointment. The biggest problem is the tiny size. I assumed at over $6 the tacos would be relatively large....no these are so tiny with barely any protein. I was quite surprised. I assumed they would be Fuego Tortilla Grill size especially for the price. The family pack only feeds 3 people at most not 4-5 as advertised. Not only were all of the tacos super small but they did not deliver on flavor. The descriptions were exciting but you could barely taste any flavor. The refried beans were a bit too spicy. The chips lacked salt. I will not be wasting money on this restaurant again when there are so many...

I have come to Torchy’s for years today I decided to try their burrito and this is where I made a grave mistake. Known for tacos and not burritos I should have stuck with my go to order. I wanted the burrito with chicken and this is where my troubles began. It was a task to get it with out sour cream. After waiting a bit longer than usual I am presented what looks on the outside to be a pretty decent burrito notice how I didn’t say chicken burrito. This freaking “chicken burrito” had 3 and 1/3 tiny pieces of chicken in it almost like I ordered it without chicken and someone accidentally sprinkled some chicken in it. This was such a disappointment that I decided to order my go to chicken fajita tacos with just cheese. So I’m 20$ deep now and they mess up that order and it comes out fully loaded. I didn’t know Torchys had fallen this far. Truly sad to be honest. Service was never a strong point here and it’s always a laugh fest with workers but normally the kitchen staff delivers. Looks like I had hopes that were too high...
