My fiance and I went here around 9:30pm and it was our first time here. We walked in and it looked nice, you can choose from Indian or Asian food, the counter attendant recommended some dishes, but seemed ever so blazeh about working which is understandable because it was almost closing. We ordered the chicken southern curry, spring rolls, and lamb curry. We also got sodas and the sodas they have are not brand colas, they're a weird brand, but nearly all of them tasted terrible. The unsweet tea wasn't good either. Whenever we ordered, I told them want I wanted and then AFTER I ORDERED the counter attendant said, "It's going to have to be to go, is that okay?" Something like that should have been said before we ordered. After we were done ordering, the attendant went back to the side counter and was eating his own food. Didn't take long to get our food. Once we were home and able to eat, the spring rolls were VERY small, and at $1.25 a piece, they weren't worth it and they were insanely bland. The sauce to go with them made them semi better. The southern chicken curry, which was $9.95 I think, had some spice to it, but again was very bland. Rice was bland, but putting the chicken curry with it made both better. The naan was bad, and the roasted garlic naan that my fiance had literally just garlic and basil rubbed on top of it. His lamb curry was a little better than the southern curry I had.
Overall the food taste was not satisfying, the portion was fine, but for the price it was, I expected it to be SO MUCH better. After taxes and tip, we paid around $40. I would so much rather go to an actual Indian restaurant. It was a quick fix, but we won't be...

Don't just train them in accepting and delivering the orders. They should also be trained in cultural understanding. Being Founders and managing partners and at the top position it is your duty to make sure things are done correctly at each of your franchise. Don't just keep on opening new locations to earn more money. I hope you and each of your employee is trained to understand vegetarian means vegetarian. I usually do not post reviews. But as it happened for the second time at the same location (Katy TX) I am compelled to post this review. I have experienced getting chicken instead of Paneer. at Masala Wok twice. I wonder if you all understand what does it mean by Paneer and there are people in this world who do not eat meat. Based on my experience so far I believe they try to sell Chicken as Paneer as Paneer is bit costly. Most of the people in USA might not be aware about Paneer so they will end up eating Chicken as Paneer. I asked for Paneer Tikka Masala and they served me Chicken. I mean the two words "Panner" & "Chicken" do not even sound similar in any way. My kid is still crying thinking you killed a hen to create that chicken dish and he had a bite of it. How do you suppose us to make him understand that this is your fault...
Read moreI enjoy the food a lot, but it is a bit overpriced (typically an order for two people costs ~$25-30). It's nothing close to authentic Indian/Asian food, but if you enjoy the spices of those regions and saucy stuff over rice or bread, it's pretty tasty. Indian/Thai Panda Express, so to speak, except (in theory) they are making the stuff hot to order. Plus you can get most anything veggie, so I'm happy.
Service at this location is pretty bad. I like ordering a drink that they have to prepare but they always forget to prepare it, then look at me dubiously when I said I ordered it (I usually don't ask for a receipt). They ask for tips when they charge you even though the service is probably on par with any other fast-casual restaurant (think Panera or Ghengis Grill). So that's kind of stupid. Most of the staff is young because it is a new business and there is a shortage in this area of good staff...pretty typical of most of the new restaurants in this area.
I haven't ordered takeout but if you do be aware the wait time will probably be long. It's not as fast as fast food. They have to make everything to order and then package it and then figure out who gets what. Seems like there are always a lot of people waiting for their orders.
I got a little bit of chicken in my paneer meal once. Yick. So I'm a little dubious about the kitchen sanitation. But...the food is pretty tasty, so I do...
