Mom and Dad's Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Kearney

First of all service and atmosphere are great. They have a couple different barbecue sauces in self-serve warmers, free soft serve ice cream and the place is clean.

Unfortunately only some of the food is not worth spending money on. I've tried the brisket twice and the first time I ordered it they gave it to me in decent sized chunks. There was absolutely no juices on this meat and frankly that was kind of alarming because I don't spend my money on dry meat. Luckily it was only dry in some areas and the flavor was good. The second time I ordered it they gave me what looked like little wood chips, again with absolutely no juices. It appeared to be what would be left overs on the bottom of a pan. Are they trying to disgrace their reputation or is this what they're known for? I didn't take a picture of this crap until after I smothered it in barbecue sauce.

The chicken breast was delightfully tender. The ribs were decent, nothing worth coming back for.

Their turkey is lunch meat quality: scraps that are compressed in the shape of a ball that you would find at a deli. They slice this and put it on your plate.

For some reason they don't serve cornbread.

The baked beans and macaroni and cheese are good.

Overall this is fast food quality. That isn't a bad thing especially when most of the items are actually decent. Stay away from the brisket and you'll probably enjoy...

I don’t know if this place is always this bad or if it was horrible because they have one overworked employee taking orders, ringing them in and cooking them by herself . The chicken and brisket were cold and bland. The flavor was that of a dollar store microwave dinner. The sides were okay but nothing to rave about. I understand that this employee was probably frustrated because she was doing everything and is probably underpaid but she slammed the food down and had a horrible attitude. The scowl on her face was terrifying. We felt bad ordering food because she was all alone. 0 stars would probably be better but their serving sizes were pretty decent and they give you...

The food wasn't that great, very disappointed. The customer service was decent.

We "might" have gotten food poisoning from there as we were nauseated and throwing up hours after. I had the barbecue pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and macaroni and cheese. They did give a lot of meat in the pulled pork sandwich I was quite surprised at how much I was served. I was not a fan of the baked beans or macaroni and cheese :-( I was expecting better flavor out of the beans and the macaroni and cheese dish wasn't that great. My husband had the brisket and seemed to like it.

I'm not saying this place is terrible, it just didn't meet my expectations...
