I was passing through for work and wanted to find a place for a drink and a good meal. That's when I found the Crafty Dog. I am pretty critical about sports bars despite me not being big into drinking (or sports for that matter), because you can have all the beer in the world, but if the food isn't good, then you may as well just call yourself a liquor store with a sports watching TV.
Review: I ordered the baked apple cider, the Mike Tyson burger, with a side of the buffalo chicken fries. The drink paired well with my food since it did feel kind of desserty, and the food was executed perfectly—the jam was just the right amount of sweet, the ghost pepper cheese & cream cheese was exactly what your mouth was calling for, the fries were nice & crispy, and the meal size was the perfect amount where I didn't feel like ordering more food but did not feel the need ask for a carryout box either. This place has no right to be this good in a remote town like Kearney, and is guaranteed an incredible time if you're ever passing through Kearney. I did walk out with a $24 bill for one person (before taxes & tip), but I don't ever expect for the check to ever be cheap at places like...
Read moreThe food looks good online and decided to take the family here for the first time. When we arrived, the hostess/waitress? was busy chatting up with another customer. After waiting for a bit we decided to try to seat ourselves but noticed most of the tables had been reserved. The rest of the restaurant was mostly empty except for 2 tables.
At this point, someone in the kitchen was asking the hostess/waitress to help us but instead of acknowledging our presence, she ignores us and told the kitchen there are no tables available for trivia night. That's fair, but the current time was a little before 5:30pm and there were few tables that were open. After still not having my family acknowledged we left.
Not sure if why our family was completely ignored, hope other customers have a better experience. If I can convince the family to try this place again and actually get to eat, I will update this review...
Read moreMy first visit here. I mean it was okay. The servers have to understand that not every customer is a rude entitled regular that is going to wave them down or yell at them for a drink. I have manners and was raised differently from most people. They missed me on several occasions. I always politely and quietly place my empty drink at the edge of the bar or table to indicate I may need another. I always give the server or bartender the benefit of the doubt that they will keep an eye out. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case last night. I did indeed point this out to the bartender before she was cut. I hope management can make this a point of emphasis going forward. I will be back for another visit. All in all it seemed like...
