This review is little late in coming since we visited around when they first opened. We were so excited that another Himalayan Indian restaurant opened up after the previous one closed, so we had to go. Please bear in mind while reading this things may have changed since then. The food was a hit or miss. When we first visit any restaurant we share as to see what we like. My two boys' meals were good. My husbands and mine not so much. My chicken mommo was way too salty and my husband said his butter chicken was bland. The Naan was divine and so was tha Mango Lassi. The service was excellent with the exception of some slight miscommunication error. When we found out the Naan basket was 13 dollars we wanted to cancel it and just go with the smaller garlic one. I don't think he understood or more likely couldn't hear me because of how loud it was. When it was brought I tried to correct it then but our server said it was fine. It did end up on the bill however they did take it off at the end when I brought it up. It is a little pricey to be honest the portion sizes are ok but flavor is a little hit or miss for 20 dollars an entree plus tip. I wish they had a special or a sampler platter so you can see what you like . We definitely will be back because they were so wonderful and it was both new and busy. However, one thing I do hope they invest in is sound dampeners. They come in a variety of colors or even mural styles. This will help with the sound and will also add splotches of color to the white walls and they could use the velcro command strips that wouldn't damage the walls and would be easy to move for cleaning. India is so famous for their vibrancy of fabrics, they could (if painting is out of the question) hang beautiful fabrics across the ceiling and have gold or silver accent peices (or artwork )to tie it all in. So please give them a try and maybe we'll...
Read moreI've been here many times. Including Christmas and Thanksgiving. The staff are always absolutely incredibly kind.
The food has been amazing every single time, too. It's one of the only places in town that I haven't had a bad experience with the food tasting bad a single time. One thing I should say if you don't want to read the rest of the review, be brave and get medium plus.
The only problem that I would say that I have here is that there has been an inconsistency with the size of the naan, especially during deliveries or to go orders. In the past, when I got to go orders, the naan was a great size and totally worth the price. There have been many countless times that the size of naan for delivery orders were wildly inconsistent and a few times it was comparable to that of a salt shaker, which I pictured in one of my updates.
We recently went in store though and the Garlic Cheese Naan was the absolute most incredible it has ever been. Perfectly buttered, perfect fluffiness, and perfect edges. We were blown away. We want to order honestly more. I cant tell you enough how absolutely incredible it was and I hope it is that amazing every single time now.
The most recent time, I decided to go for a hot curry. It was pretty great, but the only downfall here is it seemed full of oil. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that this was chili oil though. I was honestly expecting more spicy powder or chili's to be honest, instead of chili oil, but it was still good. I just didn't take any home at all for leftovers because of the oil.
For dessert absolutely get the Gulab Jamun! Dont even second guess this,...
Read moreI did delivery, so I cannot rate atmosphere.
I truly hope this place sticks around as Kearney desperately needs food like this. I ordered the Chicken Mango, Garlic Naan, and Gulab Jamun for dessert; I ordered just for me, and it was enough for two meals. The naan reheats fine in an air fryer and I am sure it would reheat fine in an oven too. This is also kind of silly, but (as of the time of this review) they use really nice containers for their take out, which means I can wash them and reuse them.
The food was great! I really like how you can select your spice tolerance when ordering. I am of two minds about the price. For me, for two meals, it was fine. However, I do understand why some people would be upset about the $20 per plate. Just know that it is a lot of food and the quality is really good. I was very hungry when I placed my order and still had enough for leftovers. A place like this is a good change of pace, not for every day.
The only thing I will say, if you are doing delivery, order well in advance. They use Uber Eats and it took about 45 minutes to get to me. However, I have heard that take out is quicker. Plus, the place is fairly new, so you have to grant them some grace while they work things out.
Overall, I truly hope this place has some staying power. Kearney needs a change, something other than the burgers, fries, and steaks we are known for. A...
