Local Burger — Restaurant in Keene

This one hurts... This used to be one of my favorite spots in Keene. The food was fantastic and I didn't have a single critique for it... Now not so much. Some context here. Due to staffing issues, the place went seasonal. So, they were closed for a number of months. We were excited to come back when it opened expecting the same quality and flavor present before... Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. Now, it still tastes good, but I've tasted their best and this wasn't it. My critiques are the bun was not of the same quality. It seemed like they bought bargain ones compared to the sweet potato I was accustomed to. On top of this, they changed the seasoning mix for their fries. Before it was a simple salt and pepper like mix. Now, it stings the mouth to partake. That being said, in another restaurant this might work and your first time here you might not know better. Thus I'd still say you'll find this place a treat. But... for those of us who've tasted what it was like before... you might feel a bit of disappointment. Granted this was early in their season and maybe they didn't anticipate the flow of traffic coming and the opening went a bit rough. At least, this is what I hope. They're chicken fingers and fries are like cheating they're so good. I know what their secret is too and it's just like sugar and nostalgia and it's delicious. Strangely, while their burgers might be their weakest dish it only because the hot dog, pull pork, chicken anything, and fries are so good, particularly from some minor mediumish fast food chain. Sometimes they carry local items like a mead milkshake. The location is right in the middle of main straight and it's a great place to eat out while winding through the shop.

They're biggest problem is they seem to always run off no more than four people: two behind the stove in the kitchen, one always in the back, and then a single young girl who is always the one in charge of manning the register to take orders, processing the payment, putting orders up, getting all the drinks including milkshakes, and when an order does come up she has to stop the whole line because she is also the only one who deliveries food. And since it's considered a kinda of fast food joint even though you sit down and get the food brought to you, I haven't seen a lot of people tip, because I always do, I feel so bad for the front of house girl who I am. So I rarely write reviews. This is a situation that the ownership should be held accountable for. I placed an order that I picked up from the restaurant. I ordered based on the menu on line. Once I arrived at the restaurant and asked for my order the dollar amount was very different than what I expected. When I questioned the discrepancy I was told in quite a matter of fact tone that they had multiple restaurants and the were in the process of changing menus and prices. I held a printed version of the menu in my hand (they were located next to the register) and compared the PRINTED PRICES on the menu with what I was being charged. When I went to the next level and asked for the contact info for the owner I was quite openly scoffed at and the information was written so sloppy I could not decipher it. Guess it’s a way of preventing complaints…. As far as the food… the burger was adequate but the “fried” pickles looked as though they had bread crumbs sprinkled on them and were put under a broiler…. They were not deep fried at all and the entire over priced batch were thrown away! I will not be recommending this establishment in any...
