3 friends and I went for dinner before a comedy show that started at 7:30 at the colonial. We got there at 5:35, were ignored, AND never even got to have dinner! We left at 7:15. It was the worst experience I have ever had there. First, when we told the hostess we had a party of four she said it would be just a moment before we could be seated; they just needed to wioe down a table for us. After waiting about 15 minutes and seeing multiple parties, both with and without reservations being seated, we checked back in with the hostess. She admitted she'd forgotten about us and told us we could go ahead and seat ourselves anywhere in the lounge. We chose a table and sat. Someone came by and dropped chips off, saying our waitress would be with us shortly. "Shortly" was a major understatement. After finally being acknowledged by our waitress- who asked if we were going to the show at 7:30- we ordered our meals and drinks (2 from the bar, an iced tea, and a water) when the waitress initially came to our table. Then we waited. And waited. 40 minutes later, I flagged the waitress down and let her know we had been waiting 40 minutes and still had not even received waters. She snapped at me they were out of cups and came back a few minutes later with 4 small cups of water and no offer to refill the empty bowl of chips. She never brought the iced tea. At about 7:05 she came back to our table to tell us our food would not be ready in time for our show. If she had communicated sooner, we could have gone somewhere else for dinner. She came back with a bill for the two alcoholic drinks and the iced tea she never brought out. I asked to speak to a manager to which she replied it would probably be ten minutes because there was only one manager on duty. Then she came back and told us we could just leave. Such a bummer. Thank goodness for the popcorn at the colonial; though that was hardly the dinner we...
Read moreEdit: I decided to give this place a second chance and it was awful. My partner and I both sent our dishes back - they were completely inedible. My chicken was very undercooked and the beans were so bad I wouldn't feed them to a stray dog. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!
My partner and I went late on Halloween night, around 10pm, and the restaurant was understaffed - so although my experience wasn't great I'm giving three stars because of the circumstances and because our server was very apologetic. When we walked in there was a sign that said to sit in the lobby and wait to be seated. We did, and a very surly looking server walked by us three times without a glance or a word. A party of three came in behind us at which point she said, to them and not to us, that there was no host and to seat themselves. We went to sit down and nearly every table was covered in dirty dishes. It looked disgusting honestly. We found one table that had no dishes but hadn't been wiped down (there was lettuce and sauce on the table mat). Then we find out that they are only serving the late night menu, which includes about five simple appetizers. I checked the website before we came and it didn't say anything about a late night menu, nor did we see any signs outside or inside the restaurant. But since it was late we decided to stay. The food was actually really good. We got the chicken baby chimis, queso fries, and wings. The ginger margarita was waaaay too sweet and I couldn't drink it, but my partner said it "wasn't the worst" drink he ever had. The Margatroid drink was good, and I loved the coconut mojito. The decor is pretty tacky and sloppily glued to the walls and windowsills, but it's a Margaritas so what can you really expect? Overall it wasn't a totally terrible experience, but a bit...
Read moreWarning Warning! Avoid this Margaritas! We love the Margarita restaurants and this one did not match up with the quality of the others in any way except for the style. It's nicely decorated and spacious in the beautiful downtown/main street in Keene. We sat down at 9 pm in a lightly occupied bar area and were quickly waited on by a waitress. She took our drink order and brought chips in salsa. Chips and salsa were good as always. She came back in about 5 minutes and said she was still waiting for the drinks but took our food order and we asked if we could get another bowl of chips which she said of course. So after we ordered and 15 minutes went by and now 20 minutes after we ordered the drinks our drinks were brought to us with my beer bring extremely flat and blah! The drinks were followed quickly by the food. When I say quickly I mean on the heels of the drinks which was maybe a minute after the drinks! The food was at best blah! All we can say is it was like mush. It just didn't seem fresh I guess. Can't really explain it but certainly not what we see at other Margaritas and more what you would expect at some shady style establishment. We powered through our meal which now the chips we ordered 20 minutes prior showed up. We finished and now had to wait another 20 minutes before we saw the waitress so we could pay the bill. So in the end we will not be back to this one. Other friends we spoke with afterwards said they had the same long wait experience at this one and haven't been back because of it either. So sad because this area of Keene is loaded with great restaurants and if the quality and service isn't there then they will be gone. I think right now they are still there just because of the name and good reputation of...
