Yolo Cafe — Restaurant in Keene

Updated: Today we spent almost 50$ there. All three orders were wrong and had multiple ingredients in the wrong dishes. One of them was an allergy. I called and repeatedly asserted that they did not give us the food we asked for.

The person on the phone just blamed DoorDash and refused to do anything to correct the problem. No refund, no offer to let us come pick up a correction, nothing. I am deeply disappointed. DoorDash being involved does not mean the restaurant loses all responsibility.

I don’t expect to order again because this is the third time getting minor mistakes that make the meal inedible because of allergies. I’m tired of wasting my money and time.

I’ve tried to understand what kind of challenges exist in the service sector here in my prior reviews. I hope the employees are getting better pay and support as the review response stated. At this point it’s just a waste of money.

They need to pay their staff better. It's very clear they're hiring young kids and not paying great. People who are distracted and underpaid make clumsy mistakes, and that's on the employer, not teenagers.

Service has generally been pretty good - except that I often witness scuffles behind the counter between teen boys, arguments over tips, etc. Beyond the young women who have been far more responsible than their teen boy counterparts, there isn't a lot of leadership.

They also don't seem to have a clear grounding on food allergies and protocols for substitutions. I've had something in my order substituted without them telling me (let alone asking me,) and that was not great. You can't just substitute a food without...

My daughter wanted something with Bobas. I found Yolo Cafe online and figured we'd give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. I wasn't expecting such a cute little gem of a cafe nestled in the downtown Keene area. The inside is aestheticlly pleasing and smells like freshly baked sweets. There is both metered and non metered parking. The meters run Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. There is both in and outdoor seating. If you choose the outdoor seating you have the option of sitting facing Gilbo Ave or the back side of the cafe. Either option is great. They have a convenient walk up window to order from or you can go inside to order. The cafe is strictly deserts and drinks, no complaints here though. They have a variety of soft serve flavors, several flavors of frozen yogurt, ice cream and other sweets. Yolo Cafe is reasonably priced, clean, easily located, great parking and seating choices, the staff is very nice and it's dog friendly. I didn't mention the best part. They have adorable pup cup sundays. We brought our pups along and included the dog friendly dessert to our order. They loved it. They have a rewards program that apparently offers a discount with points earned. We ordered the strawberry lemonade with multi flavored bobas, raspberry frozen yogurt with a mix of toppings, including bobas and pup cups.The color changing spoons were a fun discovery. I've been a bit obsessed with bubble tea for a while and am always looking for places that have the bursting bubbles (not just the chewy ones!) AND THIS PLACE DOES! I got the raspberry green tea with sour apple bursting bubbles and it was alright. My daughter got a strawberry green tea with blueberry bubbles and she liked it but didn't rave about it. A few issues: the bubbles were smaller than what I've had in the past and the drink doesn't come in a sealed cup that you pop the big straw through. Their menu outside vs. inside vs. website are all a little different. We thought they had flavored black teas but it was only green tea. They don't have bubbles that would go good in milk teas so those options were out. The poor girl working there was all alone and the line was out the door. I waited for 30 minutes for 2 drinks and felt so bad for her! My take - I'll go back and try again. Maybe they are just getting going on the bubbles / boba options and will have it more ironed out next time and...
