Donut Place — Restaurant in Keller

Something changed... for the past year, donut place has been our go-to, every Saturday morning, every birthday in the house, and referred many others who enjoyed too. Was* family owned and operated, a place you could become a regular. This appears to have changed at some point over the holidays of 2020. We asked about the family, not seeing them anymore, the new shop management said the family retired. We hoped we'd see them again, but haven't since. Over the last 2 months, the quality of product has gone down significantly, enough to motivate a switch back to our prior donut spot we were originally stolen away from a bit over a year ago. Prior experience here was top notch, personal touch, friendly people with incredible product. Status quo now is much different. The donut holes, and regular donuts seem to have lost their subtle crunch, borderline felt like they'd been sitting out hours and near-stale. 3 times now the staff has left my burritos in the microwave, completely forgetting them, I've had to drive back which is the last thing you want to be doing on your Saturday chasing down your forgotten food. They've stated putting your frosted donuts in bags instead of boxes, when you get home it's a sticky mess. Asking for anything custom with their breakfast sandwiches was somewhat challenging to communicate. Just a shame, this was really something special. Not sure if family just stepped back or sold it off? Still giving 3 stars because of the sweat-equity the family has in it, but really the product right now is at about a 2 out of 5. I actually ordered from uber eats, and the way they package their food for uber eats orders is so nice! I got my food packed neatly and carefully into small donut boxes with a little tape to keep them closed. I just really appreciate that. Also the food is really tasty and reasonably priced. They also leave little extras with some orders! There may be a donut shop on every corner in Texas, but this one, hands down, is the best in town. This is absolutely my new favorite...

We go to The Donut Place EVERY weekend for donuts and breakfast burritos! They are delicious! I love their strawberry frosted cake donut, and my kids love their cinnamon rolls, donut sticks and apple fritter. Its a family business and the staff is friendly and accommodating. They made AMAZING birthday donuts for our sons party and it was a huge hit! We also ordered the burritos for the party and they were all gone! Love our Donut...
