Sushi River — Restaurant in Keller

I’ve lived in the north Fort Worth area since 2008 and my search for an authentic, deep, rich, umami Tonkotsu broth has fell short, until today. We finally had lunch at Sushi River (located on North Tarrant, in the strip mall kitty corner from Lowe’s). My daughter had the Shio ramen, a chicken based broth. Both dishes were outstanding. Today was a cold today and the deep flavors of the Tonkotsu ramen really warmed the soul. The noodles were perfect, springy, with good texture. The pork chashu was yummy and the soft boiled egg was marinated properly. There was so much broth, noodles, meat and the price was cheaper most ramen bowls in the DFW area ($12.95 for pork chashu, $11.95 for chicken) Overall this was a 11/10 experience. DO NOT GO HERE. My father and I went on a Friday for dinner, and immediately noticed how we were the only people there. A sushi restaurant, empty, on a Friday evening? When we looked at the menu, we were very unimpressed. Half of the items were misspelled, and when I tried to order Boba tea, I was told they don't make that anymore? Why is it still on the menu, then? All of the strange vibes that I was getting promoted me to search the Public Health database, and what do I find? This place has an 83 DEMERIT SCORE from a month ago. Issues included, but were not limited to, cockroaches in the mop sink, busted freezer, food stored on the floor, and raw meat being stored above ready-to-eat food. My wife drives by this every day driving to work and never really noticed it. Thanks to Yelp. We had a craving for sushi and decided to give it a shot. This is really a hidden gem that will become one of our favorites.

The inside is simple, but the service here is a picture perfect mom and pop that provides some of the best service. They were very friendly and helpful.

I loved the egg drop soup and my wife really enjoyed her edamame. The fried rice was amazing as well. All the sushi rolls are fresh and so delicious. We had so much food. Do we have to take it home and ate on it the next day, and it was almost as good.
